This term/statement has oft been hurled at me as some sort of epithet. To debunk something is to reveal a story as untrue.

Negating falsehoods is a big part of the search for truth. Why do some of you perceive this as a 'bad' thing?

A debunker actually offers a criticism based upon some theory or contrarian hypothesis. Therefore, debunkers are needed. But… I’m complaining that (they?) called you one. Surely (they?) are mistaken.

Because destructive criticism is worse than constructive criticism.

A cynic rejects all ideas; a dreamer invents possibly flawed ones.  Personally I enjoy keeping cynics around, but I'd rather be a dreamer.  Healthier for my stress levels and provides good exercise for the imagination.

The OP neither used cynicism or destructive in the description of debunker.

Many here become upset when their ideas are questioned. When they are asked questions such as, "how do you know this to be true".:shrug:

No one has a huge problem when someone states and opinion as such. But it seems many make definitive statements based on subjective beliefs and then expect them to be acknowledged as self evident truth.

Right, and I agree a certain level of debunking is always justified.  IMO the OP rarely puts forth original ideas of his own, though, and instead solely focuses on debunking.

maybe cause to some it doesnt seem like your really searching for truth
just having fun debunking
like a kindof anti-christian agenda or something

i feel we are all searching for truth
we cant do anything else imo

i agree that negation is an incredibly powerful tool

if somehting arises in my mind
i can totally negate it & not follow it
thus not waste any energy

this results in extreme happyness

most people see negation as bad or unkind
but theres nothing more powerful at exposing the unreal & revealing the real

we just differ on what is real or unreal, it seems

Although it seems debunking is all some people seem to do...never offering any of their own theories and ideas to possibly be debunked by others...
