I dont think those are liberty caps, however I am not the one to judge

Im thinking to get a definite ID, you will need to provide a little more information on habitat, spore print and what not, unless somebody is familiar with this species its hard to ID from a standpoint that I am looking it at.

If the spore print is black, it could be a Panaeolus? Its just a wild guess though !! :frown:

Working on the sport print right now. I don't know if this helps any, but they've been sitting here drying for a while and the edge of the cap is turning dark brownish.

There were found in a moist area of high grass. Near them were several other species that didn't look promising.

They do not bruise blue.

Thanks for helping.

Ok, after studying Mushroom Johns website, I have come to the conclusion there is no way these can be PSILOCYBE SEMILANCEATA. They aren't tanned enough. I'm still taking a spore print anyhow.

unless that one mushroom in the second pic that doesnt fit in it a different speceis, then i might think they might be somewhat dried out psilocybe pelliculosas based on habitat.
otherwise nahh

Those first mushrooms are interesting. When you get a spore print, let us know. The second photo almost suggests a Coprinus species.

The huge cluster you found looks like moldy oyster mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus (or one of the close relatives). I've seen a bigger cluster only once (that's a pretty good sized one you found), but I've heard of people finding them over 120 pounds(!).

Nice finds. Keep us posted.

These are definately not liberty caps. The caps spread far too much, and there isn't a pronounced anough "nipple" on top. In fact, they are miles from looking anything like them.

Go search for some pictures of Liberty Caps. You should have done that already, then you'd have known.

Unlucky. Keep searching though, they're generally very common.

Well, I let these things sit on a napkin overnight and didn't see any color for a spore print so I can only assume that it was white. Now I know why so many people make their prints on transparant material. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going hunting again today....

This is what I call a jackass thread, not only are those not liberty caps, but also you failed to realize that I see sun breaks all the time and I do not live in "The Great Northwest." I won't even go into how disgusting those last two pictures are.
