Many people have noted great success with grapefruit juice when combined with mushrooms in terms of potentiating the effects. It has also known to affect certain pharmaceuticals so it may be possible that it affects LSD. I'm not sure, that's why I asked wise ass.

I was just remarking on how poorly you worded your um... question. But no, the reason you trip harder when using an acidic medium like citrus juice with mushrooms is because the acidity breaks the psilocybin down to psilocyn and, thus, you absorb it faster without needing to break it down yourself.

pretty much common knowledge for one as un-n00blike as yourself.

to my knowledge, grapefruit juice has nothing to do with getting one "higher" while taking cid.

i think you may be getting this confused with opiates.  white grapefruit juice contains ingredients that inhibit enzymes that metabolize opiates, particularly the CYP450 set...but as far as i know (and i could be wrong i'm pretty drunk/stoned) this has nothing to do with the way LSD is broken down in the body.

and the only reason grapefruit juice works with mushrooms is the same reason lemon juice does, cause of the low pH...it converts the psylocibin into psylocin before your gut can, cutting out a step.

Your looking at it wrong. You cant "potentiate" psychadelics. That shit is outdated. A myth. Grape juice has a high Ph, and helps to convert the psilocybin into psilocin, and make the alkaloids easier to digest for a faster entery into your system.

NOT to "potentiate" and NOT to get you higher.

Try 5g powdered shrooms + lemon juice. Please?

What reason is there to think that grapefruit juice will affect LSD effects?
When you say that many people have taken grapefruit juice with LSD and noticed effects, what did they notice?  How did they gauge the effect of grapefruit juice?  How did they rule out the possibility that these effects were due to placebo or something else, like typical variation between experiences?

I've never heard of grapefruit juice being mixed with mushrooms or LSD.

According to this page, grape fruit juice affects the effects (no pun intended) of a variety of medications and drugs. I don't see LSD listed, though :wink: .

The San Diego union-tribune tells a somewhat similar story here...

I've seen a few trip reports on erowid claiming that grape fruit juice "potentiates" some psychedelics. I can try and find 'em if you're interested...

your post count does not make you a noob. Your knowledge, or lack of it should determine if you are a noob. If you have done drugs or hung around intelligent people who know about drugs, you should have been able to pick up on what he was asking as soon as you saw grapefruit juice.

In my experience grapefruit juice did not do anything to the effects of LSD. On xanax it does for sure.

Thank you. And as psilopsilo1111 said, post count doesn't constitute how experienced one is in drug knowledge. I've done many different mind expanding drugs over a long period of time, and have been on this site for quite a while, reading and gathering information. You would have picked up on what I was asking immediately if you knew anything about these drugs. It was just a simple question, I know it may have been a myth but I was just curious and wanted to find out more people's opinions.
