contam prob?

is it safe to say that if you innoculated 5 jars with the same syringe and all the jars were sterilized thoroughly that if there was contamination at all of the innoculation sites on every jar that the syringe was contaminated?

other possibilities: the needle wasn't sterilized before you innoc'ed or the needle wasn't sterlized between jars, picked up contams at first jar and spread to the rest.

the needle was sterilized. if the contamination came from the first jar then shouldn't one of the jars be showing contamination at a different location than the innoculation site? that also means that the contam had to have been picked up on the first innoc. I think that the syringe is contaminated.

This is exactly why I use a new in the package sterile syringe for every jar. New tip to colonizee faster. Add a fifth hole in the middle, instead of a resevoir if you plan on dunking . They will assure a 100% colonization always.

yep, the syringe could have be contam'ed. just throwing some other ideas out there. i was thinking one of my syringes was contam'ed but only 3 of 6 jars failed making me think that less.
