This is my first time. I'm using the classic PF tek with Ecuador's. I innoculated seven jars five days ago, and all of them look the same. I thought I did a good job of keeping everything clean and sterile, but the black spots in the mycellium at each innoculation point (see image below, just right of the center of the image) makes me think something went wrong.  Unless it's the vermiculite or the result of some expected reaction.
Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Normally any color other than white in your mycelium is bad, bad, bad..
Most of my contams have been the green but Ive seen this contam before too. Keep an eye on it for alittle while longer just to see how fast it colonizes your mycelium but I would start another set of jars and be alittle more careful. Try another spore solution next time.

Of course its possible but hey use the SAME one again and see if you get the SAME result. That might give you a better idea of where your problem is. I would start again with another syringe if possible and be extra careful with your sterility.

It kind of looks like it might be. Try smelling it, if it smells bad, it's definitely contam

usually contams at the innoculation point are contams in the innoculant itself. sometimes on the needle. get differant spores from a different supplier.
usually knock-point contams spell the end of the jar. if not extensive, they can be cut out. since yours seem to go to the bottom of the jar, i suggest you take the cakes and bury them in the back yard about an inch deep, and start over. sometimes a contamned cake will heal and yeald outdoors, but indoors, it's over.

Definitely looks like some contams in another pic over in the picture forum from last week...doesn't look like any mycellium pictured on this site.

nope.......just verminculite in the way....it'll be fine......happens on all my jars. Just wait and it'll grow over that.

Hmmm. I don't get any strange odors from the jars, so I guess I'll just leave 'em be for a week or so, and see what develops. I've got 3cc's left from that syringe, and I'll try them out then. I will also change the way I handled the jars after pressure cooking. With these seven I removed them immediately from the PC after cooking. I think since the jars had to cool outside of the sterile environment of the PC they sucked in contaminated air.

If your talking about that black shit in your jars yeah thats a contam. If all jars or a ratio of 60/40 was contamed then its your syringe if its less you really cant tell unless you already knew. Yes thats a contam.
