woodchips in compost?

greetings,Im starting a compost pile with wheatstraw, horse poo,gypsym
ect.. I was wondering would it help to add some hardwood chips?seems like i remember wood chips being in the dung bros. compost ryche was selling.
the flushes from that looked great and without a casing!.any help?

I don't think I'd use hardwood chips. Perhaps some aspen shavings like used for bet bedding.

Yes there was some wood in dung bros, but not large chunks of it. Whatever it was, it was mostly composted. Large chunks of hardwood will not compost quickly enough.

I wouldn't bother adding it to compost if I were cooking some. I think it was only in the dung bros because wood shavings were used as bedding in a stable or something. If anything wood shavings will only add to the structure of a compost, and not much to it's nutrition, and I never had a problem with the structure of homemade compost.

Thanks guys,Im just going to make up the pile without the wood
shavings/chips since it probably wont help the structure too much.
besides, the wheatstraw should give it enough structure.
