WTF Craigslist Scam...?

I am attempting to sell a laptop on Craigslist and basically the only emails of interest are those wanting me to ship the damn thing overseas, most of them want it sent to Africa/Nigeria. WTF is going on here...? Anyone had any experience with this; is it a scam? If so, how does it work?

you can't really scam the seller unless they just don't pay you. if they pay for it, ship it wherever the hell they want.. overseas shipping = more $$$
it does sound kinda fishy though

Get paid before you ship it, and i don't see how they can scam you.

Unless the payment defaults/is fake/ whatever. 

But a smart businessman would make sure.

I'm pretty sure that their check or whatever they pay with will be fake. Accept cash ONLY. Your bank will cash their check, but it can take weeks for them to figure out the check isn't worth anything, then that money gets taken out of your account.

That's a really popular scam, i've come across it a few times.  It originated in Nigeria, but it's got a big base of people in London too.  Don't ship the laptop anywhere, let whoever wants it come pick it up.

also, if somebody mails you a check or money order it will usually be stolen or fake.  even if you deposit the check and it clear, the bank will often find out about a bad check/money order AFTER you initially get the money.  Then you are responsible for paying them back.
So don't fuck with anybody that you can't meet in person.

A LOT of the illegal credit card purchases come from Nigeria.

At a website I owned that was drop shipping we blocked any orders from Nigeria.

They're making hand over fist there. It's all theft.

Yeah heard about this quite a bit.. taxi cab driver told me about his daughter gettin ripped off from a bounced check from some people in nigeria
