Tell us your scams, hustles and tricks

C. Nomad has inspired me with his free breakfast trick!
I'm going to tell you about an elaborate con.
The con artist places an add in the paper selling his BMW off unusually cheap. He finds a cash buyer and arranges for them to come to his house to view the car.
Now the house isn't actually his. Its either a new build with nobody living in it or someones elses house who has gone on holiday that he has broken into.
The car isn't his either. Its a hire car. When the mark comes over he gives the conman the cash and the conman gives the mark some fake paperwork to sign the car over.
At that point the conman leaves the mark doing the paperwork, gets in the car with his cash and drives off.
^This is a nasty rotten trick though, so don't do it people!

that scam works better with an apartment.
1. you find an empty one, post an add in craigslist for unusally cheap.
2. collect as many security deposits as you can before the first of the month.
3. ??????????
4 profit
edit, works best in college towns where kids are stupid and pay in cash.

ill pull alot of small little scams, but i have one major principal.
1) never hustle, steal, or otherwise harm individual people, or small businesses, large corporations are fair game.
that being said, most of my hustles, are legitimate, but usually illegal. i.e. waiting outside a large concert event to sell pipes..
pizza whole saler. I used to have a deal with dominoes pizza were i could order all of the 12 inch pizzas i wanted with any one topping for $3.50, i would usually buy 30, and then drive through all of the local car dealerships maintainence garages and sell them for $5. i did this for years, usually making about 30-40 in 2 hours and going home with a fresh pizza.

a lot of this is pretty interesting to read!
we've done a lot of scams, hustles, and tricks in my day.. but i must say my favorite (and relatively risky, HOWEVER i have never been caught [knock on wood]) is this
i'm only going to post one of them to keep my fingers fresh(and idea's out of you crazy cats's heads) for more posting, but you might get a kick out of it (mind you if you do try this, be extremely careful, play it cool) and may it be clear that i do NOT recommend doing this.
that being said, here is what you do:
you wander around the parking lot of ANY business, i've done this at walmart, stop and shop, target and once at bon ton (for a 200 dollar coat). find a receipt and then enter the store. look at the receipt and see the most expensive thing, 5-20 dollars works best (but i have done 50 - 200, very risky) find the item on a shelf, bring it to customer service, return it. say you changed your mind. we usually had someone call my phone while in line, so i could explain "oh, nah, i'm at (place) returning something for my mom."
worked like a charm.
that was one of my favorites :P gas money for weeks relied on this.

Pretty lame compared to most of the ones already posted, but me and a buddy were flat broke back in high school, and we would always want to get something to eat. We hit up a "Papa Joe's" gourmet grocery store, and found that they usually had around 15-20 different free samples around the store. We would walk through and pig out on each thing. We'd get a big glass of orange juice, a few bites of steak, lots of bread with various spreads, all the chips and salsa you can eat, and a ton of pastries. We would leave every day completely stuffed, for free.

I have faith in these walmart tricks. Usually when I'm drunk and or stoned and want something (orange juice, bag of chips, socks) from Wal Mart I just walk right in pick it up and walk right out no questions asked. So many people walk in and out of that place at any given time it's hard to get caught.

Its very easy to get free burgers from fast food joints.
We used to go in, in the morning and look at a member of staff's name badge and appearance.
In the afternoon we'd go and collect the free food, we just told them that we ordered a meal to take out and when we got home to eat it, it was missing a burger and chips.
At this point they would ask if we remembered who served us and we would stitch up the poor member of staff from that morning
They are really dumb though, in most of them you can just walk in when they are busy and claim a burger was missing from your order (you don't even have to of ordered at all!) and you will get it.

another thing that could work is this, stand outside the drive through and wait till there is a big order.... wait till the order is picked up and paid for, and driven off.
then go in and say, hey i just ordered such and such, in the blue van in the drivethrough, and we were missing a burger.

It does
My friend drank half his pint and then complained his glass was dirty and got a new fresh pint.
Also you can go in a restaraunt and pay only a penny for your meal. Its a clause in the law which says if you are unsatisfied with your meal then you can pay whatever you deem worthy.
No need to run out! Just tell them thats what it was worth - if they want to ring the police then let them.

I know soo many scams that's all I used to do. Here's my favorite, find some receipts to a store that are still good (I used to take them from my mom) and go to that store fill up the cart with all of the expensive stuff on the receipt and then push the cart right up to the customer service and return it. It works for real, and I was a teenager with spiked hair and facial piercings doing this. The receipts have to be cash too.
You can go to walmart, get one of those large totes.. stuff a ton of shit into it and walk right out. It won't be suspicious because nobody pays attention, and because it is a large tub you wouldn't have any bags. If they ask to see the receipt at the door, say no. For real they cannot make you show it to them. Just don't be a pussy and this stuff really works.
I used to steal graphing calculators, multiple fifths of liquor, anything. It takes balls though.. you can't be afraid or you will get caught.

AFOAF worked at subway and devised a way to get ~$7000 over the course of a year manipulating the system.
he would take home $60-120/night (5-hour shift) depending on how busy it was).

I stole from the registers at work more than once, today I got fired for no call no show and after they fired me I walked to the front of the store opened the register and took $45 out and left. There's even cameras but they are behind you so they can't see anything in the register.
Here's another little scam, find a store that does return w/o receipt.. steal a bunch of shit and return it for store credit. Sell the store credit on ebay, for 90% of the value. I have got thousands of dollars this way with my friends, no joke. (Petsmart works best, they don't suspect it at all) We would go on a round trip to about 8 different petsmarts and one of us would go in steal shit and the other would return it, then whatever was left we would return at the next one. You can get SOOO much money from doing this.
Khol's works good for this, steal wallets, ties, anything small and easy.
You can also take two items, for example two packages of T-shirts (different sizes) take it up to customer service and tell them you need to exchange. You will get it for free.. you just have to be good at it.
I also used to steal gas, but that doesn't work at most places. The first four pumps of Meijer (grocery store in the midwest) you can press "pay inside" and they will activate the pump, fill it up and just leave they won't notice you left until it's too late. I have stole thousands of dollars worth of gas this way, my mom would give me cash to go get her gas, so I'd steal it and then buy drugs HAHA.

You either take from the customer or take from the till.
Shortchanging customers is common in barwork. I used to take home an extra 20 after most 4 hour shifts just by taking 50p or a £1 here and there.
If you took from the till then you must of not rang it in or just pretended to ring it in?

At our store (Jc Penney's) you can do a change voucher to open the register, I didn't give a shit because it takes them weeks to realize that it's not there anyway.. anybody could have done it we didn't have assigned registers. At my old job they counted the till after each person was done on the register so this wasn't possible.

Well my stuff isn’t vary hardcore but it is as far as I personally like to take my hustles (if you could call them that)
So ive been doing this for about 3 years now and I get to upgrade key electronic components in my house for free.
My computer monitor, Costco has a 6month return on computer moniters. And every six months I show up to switch it out with a new one.
A three hundred dollar investment three years ago bought me a 19” off brand LCD monitor, that initial investment now has me typing this on a 22” wide screen LCD and the upgrades didn’t cost me a penny. After Xmas, ill be swapping this one out for a 24” LCD.
These membership warehouses are soooo damn customer friendly that they will literally take shit back way past the deadline. I screwed up and kept one monitor for a full year, and I lost the receipt. The guy told me I could only get the lowest price it had ever sold for. I told him I payed $420 (I didn’t) and with no questions asked he gave me 420 bucks plus tax in cash.
Sams club has a one year return on all TVs. So this year I decided to see how this scam works for them. I picked up a 50” Plasma and hopefully I can turn it into a 60” by next year.
A laptop scam that a friend of my father has been doing for many years.
Buy a laptop and pay the extra money for the best warranty. Right before the warranty is up, short circuit the main board and send it in; by this time they probably don’t make that model any more. Demand a machine of equal value and warranty in case they try to give you some POS replacement. Never pay for a new laptop again.

I can vouch for this albeit i didn't do it to run a scam, my lappie legitimately broke down and dell sent me the closest model they had to my old laptop. Not only did i get a new machine, it's CPU was twice as strong, it came with a DVD burner and a bunch of other media features (like an SD card reader), a larger and better screen, better battery, etc. I didn't pay a dime for it either because i had the type of warranty that covered any type of damage for free with replacement parts.

Good idea assuming noone sees you rolling a big-ass tv box around the checkout.
theres not just one checkout you could have bought at it, you could have bought it at any one of their 20 checkouts in the middle of the store.... and in case if your worried if someone recognizes you go out the back entrance and you wont even see anyone that you did the first time...

Walmart does have loss prevention, and they pay attention to things like this ^. It's not worth the risk of getting caught, they don't pay attention to petty shit.

Go to any gas station that's hiring, and try your best to get the graveyard shift. Work there for a week or so, and just do your job, which is easy as fuck.
After a week, while working the nightshift, have your friend come in wearing a ski-mask and pretend to hold you up. You act scared for the camera, give your friend the money.
Give your friend a good head start to get away and get to safety, but don't wait too long, then call the police. File your report blah-blah. If they ask what took you so long to call, just say you were scared and not thinking straight and didn't think to call the police right away.
After your done, meet your friend somewhere, split the profits, and enjoy.

I used to be a klepto. I also needed money for weed, as I would smoke about a quarter of hydro every three days.
This worked well.
Go to Nordstroms, or an expensive department store. Dress VERY nicely, and never go alone, always have a pack of friends who are always dressed nice.
Take a bunch of clothes into the dressing rooms. Like, a BUNCH. And make sure it's some nice ass designer shit, like NAME BRAND Lamb, Lucky, etc. These are always in demand, and if you know girls with money they will jump at the chance to buy them from you. Normal, non-brand clothes won't work. While you're in the dressing room, put all the new clothes on under your own clothes. Stuff your bra, underwear, w/e.
Buy something stupid, like a t-shirt and a necklace so they don't suspect a thing. If they do catch you, they will come after you when you leave, so leave with the pack and SPLIT APART. This happened to me once, when we split I just dumped everything off in the bathroom and left the mall.
Steal about $500 of clothes
Unload them on someone for around $100
Buy a sack
Go to the park and have a good time with your nice new clothes and your fluffy green weed.

All you have to do is spend 10 minutes each day going to this site, click the links they tell you to. You get paid for every click.
Make sure you click the auto login button when you sign up - this will save you from taking time logging in!
It only takes me about 3 minutes or less now, I just quickly click the sites. Do this once a day (they won't let you do it more than once a day) and you make about £20 a month.
They pay you however you like as well! Easy way to get a bit of extra wonga!

There are hotels with complementarity breakfasts that don't ask any questions you can just walk in and start eating.
Back in my younger years I'd rob vending machines, donate plasma, return stuff at walmart without anything in the package, sell stolen candy door to door, take copper from abandoned buildings and scrap it and cash in fake coinstar receipts.
That's all I can remember right now I'm sure there's more though... I realized stealing is gay btw unless it's from wal mart.

200 dollars? Maybe on a really slow night. Hell, the working for a week thing isn't even necessary. You could even have your friend rob you the night you get hired.

Fucking awsome thread, makes me want to go out and try some of the walmart shits....
I havent done many "scams" or anything. In middle school Id steal lighters and porno mags for my friends (considered selling the stolen lighters at half price but never bothered). Also shoplifted a lot of candy, and a bracelet for a girl once. Got some free coke from a vending machine a few times. Free sample tours at Costo and Trader Joes. For the past half year Ive been going to Jack in the Box to use the free internet (guess where Im at right now), bought a plastic cup to get free soda refills and never actually bought any food. The cup is gettin old and worn out, getting hard to see that it is infact a Jack in the Box cup (soon its just gonna be just a big white cup...). Definately gotta try some Walmart stuff though

i just want to let it be known that i believe scamming is very wrong, and i do not scam people. well not against big stores or business, they deserve scamming.
i thought this thread was going to die, but i have more, here is a million of them
-if you live near a theme park, go to the themepark with a pack of markers. wait at the gate, and watch for someone walking out that asks for a stamp so they can get back in. get close to them and copy the design onto your hand and walk in. then if they have a pool section go over there and just start grabbing bags. if they don't have a pool find the roller coaster with the most amount of seperate trains running at once. people have to leave their stuff outside of the train. watch the people getting on with you and remember which stuff is theirs, make sure you're on the back car an take a little bit longer to leave so you don't accidently grab someone on your train's stuff. (so the scam is as you're getting off, you're taking the bags of the people who got on after you. purses are best obviously). make sure to throw everything away immediately except money in case you get caught.
me an a friend used to do this, and one time a lady saw her and told the park security. luckily we had thrown their shit out (car keys, credit cards, house keys, drivers license). we had kept a cellphone we found ealier in the day an so they asked us to empty our bags and found the cell phone. we were shitting bricks because we thought it was the lady who identified us! they asked us what the number was and the girl i was with said it was her sisters and she forgot, so they called it and no ring!!!! off the hook. they asked us not to come back to the park after that though.
also many theme parks have lunch tents outside of the main park. people that get there early in the morning will leave large coolers of food there. we would drive up, grab a cooler and go eat lunch...
(warning, the above was super evil, and you will be punished severly by god for it)
- blh blah blah, print out fake tickets to concerts and sell them outside the concerts to dumb kids
- blah blah blah, print shitty counterfeit money and use it to buy drugs from dumb kids
- modify a trojan enough that norton or whatever won't be able to detect it and put it everywhere. use this to steal paypal accounts, poker accounts. (this works very good if you bundle it with some kind of poker freeware)
- find a public even like a parade or holiday something something. buy cheap shit and jack up the price. for instance if its a puerto rican day parade buy little puerto rican flags, double the price and sell them. selling water is always win in the summer.
- this one is kind of long, stick with me here. get broken expensive electronics for free off of craigslist. you can also use jewelry, old coins, ect. anything small that people could be tricked into thinking it has high value. get a female to dress up nice and go to a bar during the day when it is empty. have her sit at the bar and chat with the bartender (pick a male bartender). then have another girl come in, and have the first girl show off the object. make sure to say how much its worth and make sure bartender hears it. then you come in later with the object in your pocket. sit where they sat. have girl call bar and cry and say "wah wah wah, i lost object". bartender will look around and ask you if you see object. hold up object. ask bartender to ask her if there is reward. have girl say i'll give you a x=dollar amount reward for it (do it high, like 300$). bartender than either tells you 300 dollars or try to scam you himself. girl tells bartender she'll be there in 2 hours. you tell bartender you can't wait, tell him you'll split the money with him, he has to give you money now. he will do this.
?????
profit!!!
(remeber! origional object has no value, but seems like it could be expensive)
- buy a smartcard reader/writer and go to kinko's. get a card, put 100$ on it, return it for cash, repeat once a week at every local kinko's. search this one on the web for more info, may be outdated.
- 1. find small child with candy 2. push child, take candy 3. ?????? 4. profit!!!!

- anywhere people take their bags off. wait till someone take their bag off. have a friend distract them with something while you take bag. both of you leave.
- wait around outside bars or clubs early on nights when they have a band. when band shows up and starts unloading their stuff, wait till they're not looking grab something expensive throw it in your car super fast and run.
- wait for natural or man made disaster to distract cops. loot!
- !!!! tell someone you are lawyer in nigeria and you will give them 100 million dollars if they send you 10,000!!!!

Having stood on many a street corner in dodgy areas carrying tonnes of DJ equipment or drum kits or whatnot you are fast becoming my nemesis. I'm ready for that trick, but to be honest if you had two people, one just grabbed like a guitar case, i run after guy and then you sneak off with all the other shit at my feet i'd be stuffed. - Unless you wre dumb enough to try and make off with an amp That'd be the slowest getaway ever.

Angered Roach said: Go to any gas station that's hiring, and try your best to get the graveyard shift.
After your done, meet your friend somewhere, split the profits, and enjoy.
that's probably the most retarded, half-baked, fucked up idea that ever existed.
if it's a gas station that stays open 24 hrs, then this will not work.
1) gas stations that only have one attendant working overnight will only allow managers to work that shift alone. therefor it'll more than just a "couple of weeks" until your friend can rob you.
2) even if you do somehow aspire to be a gas station manager you will be required to "drop" large bills as they come in. at QT we only keep about 20 ones and $20-30 worth fives, and maybe 3 tens, tops, after midnight. my sister worked at a gas station when she was in high school and they did the same thing. If you get robbed and the robbers get away with a large sum of cash, you'll get fired for not following procedure.
seriously, either you're fucking stupid, or this worked for you in 1964.

undergrounder do not judge me so harshly. i think its terrible to take another person's posessions and the amusement park story comes from when i was very depressed and doing alot of dxm.
the only thing after that i've scammed is stealing money from cash register at work.
i just have a general interest in scams, because it amazes me how thin the line is between being broke and not being broke. owning something and not owning something.
i'm going to post some more tomorow. look at it as a helping people to avoid them.

oh shit i have to post this one because its awesome.
at night, go to drugstores and go through their trash. find their duplicate labels. take the info and look for people with refills on oxy's or whatever, call in and order the prescription. go in and pick it up.
sometimes they will ask for ID. say you don't have it and just don't go back there for awhile.
also this seems to be very area dependent? in the place where i was when i figured this scam out, drugstores through out SHIT TONS of reciepts. in the place where i live in now i checked perhaps a dozen stores on a dozen nights and found zero. wtf?
always make sure they do not notice someone is going through their trash, don't get seen and make sure it doesn't look messed with. if they do notice they will start locking the dumpsters and might send out a bullitent to other stores in the area to lock theirs.
edit: hirlariously, someone i know did this once and the person behind the register said "you're not mrs. blahblahs kid!" so he just walked away fast.

pouring metal dust into the slots of card/poker machines, using an electric lighter to click up credits
flicking 2 cents into the slots of pinballs and old sitdown video games
taping a string to a coin and inserting it into the poker machines slots
picking the lock on card machines and stacking credits up with a few friends crowded around acting like youre winning before they had alarms
these all used to work but the string on the coin never did tho,it always tangled as it rolled in
and one by one they fixed the flaws as we found them, pretty shitty scams or whatever you call them but it was fun,we didnt do it for the money we just did it to get something back

Kimbo = Scam King
Heres one I saw some smackheads round here doing...
You walk round with an empty petrol can. Go up to people and tell them a sob story about how your stranded with no petrol because you didn't realiuse your car feul was so low. Tell them you forgot your wallet and can they help you.
Funny thing is that carrying a petrol can seems to be the burden of proof These smackheads didn't even have licenses or a car lol.

People must be not be very desensitized to shit, or this only works in places like Ames, Iowa.
Because I've lived in big cities my whole life, and I can spot a fake beggar from a mile away. I am hit up probably 10 times per day by people, and I'll give change to actual homeless people who just want booze money.
But Christ, tell me you want money for alcohol/crack. Don't tell me that you're from Minnesota and your car is broken down *RIGHT OVER THERE* and your wife and four kids are in there with no food and its cold and a just a *COUPLE OF DOLLARS* would get you back to Minnesota.
Get the fuck out of here.
And this goes for the fat guy in the Ecko jacket outside the movie theater last night, smoking cigarettes and asking for "A Little Change For the Homeless and Hungry".
You can afford cigarettes, you're fatter than me, and you have nicer clothes than me. NOBODY IS BUYING THAT SHIT.

no, i had many.
however, i think it would be wrong of me to rob someone who was providing me with a sacred plant that i loved and enjoyed, and who i also had a personal connection to. if I robbed them, sure, i might make off with a few thousand bucks and some pounds, but that person would also go hungry, get kicked out of their place, etc.
if i steal a couple hundred dollars worth of clothes from a multi-million dollar business that promotes an disgusting consumer economy, i don't so much care.
i don't steal anymore because i am older and not a complete dumbass. but i enjoy the added bonus of it all:
robbing a corporate entity to feed the local peace-loving criminal has a delicious irony.

another scam:
go to best buy, frys, etc.
buy a videocard, soundcard, motherboard, etc. for your computer
go home, install the new hardware
take the old hardware and put it in the new box
return it to whatever 15 year old fry's has just hired and say your mom/girlfriend bitched at you for buying something too expensive
never pay for new hardware

also: pot dealers will defend their shit, with force if necessary.
if someone came into your house and tried to rob you without a gun or a weapon of any kind, you would probably kick their ass.
not to mention, breaking open a safe is a little difficult.
in the mall, if you get caught, the worst that happens is getting a ticket.
i don't know if your comment was serious or not, but you do a good job of sounding like an idiot and ignoring moral standards.
this thread is about hustling. robbing a hustler is a dumb idea.

i like how your shoplifting ass can even bring up moral standards in a conversation haha.
you mean to say you cant go to jail from robbing a store?!
some weed dealers are easy marks and not hustlers at all (high schoolers anyone?). if you had any brains u would know that.
anyways in my opinion you are no better than a crackhead who robs for crack. robbing to support a drug habit is the lowest of moral standards. which again makes me laugh cus for some reason you think you have them. unless im missing something.
BTW robbing a hustler is the ultimate form of hustling... duh

i didn't rob to support a drug habit.
i was a klepto
i had a bad case of OCD in high school and I STOLE EVERYTHING if it belonged to a retail chain. With enough pot i finally got it under control. stealing and making money eventually worked together. not only did i buy pot, i also bought FOOD! OMG! I'm such a crackhead! I bought food with money from stolen goods.
I AM ADDICTED TO FOOD. I can't live without it. I get all skinny and gross and go into withdrawal if I don't have it.
I need to go to an FA meeting.
But seriously, how can you feel bad if you steal from a corporation in an attempt to destroy a system you despise, that you see ruining people's lives? The consumer culture in this country backed by large corporations has us all alienated from each other and identifying ourselves by what we consume: by what we wear, eat, drive, watch... not to mention these corporations pressure people to overspend on their credit cards, ruining their lives with debt. and yes, it is partially their fault that they can't see through their own gluttonous haze, but really it's a bad situation for everyone.
large department stores have also run local businesses out of town. now everything is homogenized.
in your opinion, i shouldn't risk sounding "immoral" by saying that i'm proud i've struck a blow, however small, against a corrupt and despicable system that has hijacked our country and turned everything, even our own identities, into a product.
but i'm not going to back down, sorry. stealing a TINY amount of merchandise from a HUGE corporation isn't wrong. it just isn't.
FUCK THEM. If they go out of business, awesome.

You're assuming your line of thinking is correct. Other's would disagree. A better alternative would be to move to somewhere that doesn't subscribe to all the corporate "bullshit", or try and do something to change it instead of just being a piece of shit. the local ski slope (nothing spectacular, not worth $25 lift ticket for 3 hills), had black text on white background for lift tickets. So, the text was duplicated in the same font/size/spacing on a computer, then printed onto label paper (has an adhesive backing).
Once labels were printed, wax could be rubbed onto the label to make it water-resistant, then the sticker (with current date) stuck to an old lift pass. I think they caught on to this somewhat, as sometimes lift operators would go through the line marking up tickets with a sharpie to see if they bleed, but the wax coating prevents this and the tickets pass unless one gets a good look up close.
Although I haven't felt inclined to go in the past few years, used to make philly folk fest (big thing locally here) in the same manner, using card stock and elmers glue spread over the surface to make it gloss.
And to the people who print fake money to buy drugs off unsuspecting drug dealers, if you are lucky they will throw out the money or use it on someone else, in either case printed money is a felony with stiff penalties, not really worth it for some drugs.
Oh, and I think it's pretty ingenious, whoever thought of putting a device on ATMs to capture magstripe and pin... that's craziness! If I ever foun
\ actually i have been considering this. i want to learn to snowboard this year, and im going to probably have a damn hard time paying for lift tickets, so i figured that if i bought one and then scanned it, and printed it on a nice shipping label, it might work.
i figured that i could rough it up a bit to show some wear and tear, like i had fallen on it a few times. who knows if that would work though. i havent relly hit the hills in a few years.

at colleges and universities you can go around campus and look for unattended books. like in the restroom when people leave thier books and bags on a shelf while they take a piss.
grab the books and sell them back to the book store. college books are pretty expensive. you can usually get like $50 per book.

most of these scams aren't even possible, especially the digging the duplicate out of the dumpster trick. My mom runs a pharmacy, and that's just not possible on so many levels that I'm not even going to list. I'll just say that all scripts are checked through a nationwide database, and you can't get a refill for anything the next day, especially any scheduled substances. fucking retards. that sounds like some plan you devised while sitting around passing a bong with your other retarded friends, or something that may have worked 10 years ago.
anyway, here's my scam I used to run:
I used to wait tables and we got a new POS system. (not piece of shit, but point of sale). anyway, to enter an order into the system you would select a "table" then indicate the number of tops, or customers, then enter an order for each top, which was assigned a number. each top had to have at least a drink order.
so, say a group of 4 people come in and you know they are going to want separate checks. and they all order a coke. Well, instead of assigning each top a coke, I would assign one top a coke and the other tops water, then all the usual food orders. Next i would print off their tickets, but I would re-assign the coke to each top, so when they get their check they pay me the amount that looks correct to them (food + coke). Now if you've never waited tables, I'll tell you how things work at the end of a shift. You run a report on all the tables you waited on that night, then there is an amount of cash that's due to the restaurant for the food, and you pay that, then whatever is left over is your tips.
and that's why I was never caught. The report only ran sales for that day, so it's not like I was voiding crap off. Plus employees get free drinks, and there are free refills, so there's no way to keep inventory on how many drinks are sold.
it adds up, as drinks were $1.50. This also worked on the buffet we used to have. if a table of 4 came in for buffet, i'd only enter a table of 1 and print the same receipt off 4 times. That was some good money, as the buffet + drink was about $10.

Yeah that's completely fucking lame. Stealing from corporations is one thing.. stealing from individual people is a whole nother ballgame.
Maybe I'm just biased because I passed out in a chair at ASU for 10 minutes, with my bag in my LAP and some fuckhead dickweed took off with my backpack, that had:
- My digital camera with pictures of me and my girl in it, (the only copies) who had just come to visit me from 3,000 miles away, whom I hadn't seen in over 3 years. - My birth certificate, passport, and my social security card. - a $150 pair of headphones - my mp3 player with my entire music collection on it - A memory stick that had ALL my photos and documents stored on it (again... no backups) - $50 (All the money I had)
And a bunch of other important papers and sentimental shit. I had all this shit in there because I was moving, and getting ready to get on an airplane, in 4 hours. And it's not like I'm rich either. Far fucking from it. I'm a poor SOB. To this day, a year later.. I have not been able to replace anything except for my social security card.
I swear to god I woke up and saw it was missing I started running around that fucking campus if I saw someone with my bag I was gonna knock their fucking lights out and probably beat them within half an inch of their life. But the cocksucker got away. Lucky for him because he probably would have winded up in the ER and me in jail for attempted murder.
Moral of the story: Don't steal personal shit from actual people. Because if someone like me catches you, I will fucking run you down and mercilessly beat the living shit out of you with my fists, a crowbar, or whatever other blunt object is within my immediate vicinity. I don't give a fuck. That shit is just wrong. Steal from wal-mart all day all fucking long, I couldn't care less. Steal what little I have from me or my friends, that shit is personal. Perhaps if I was rich I wouldn't care as much, but I'm not, and I do.

Um, just so you know StonedShroom, that "manager only overnight" law doesn't apply everywhere, how can you assume that? lol.
I worked overnight at the local gas stations many, many times..
And a friend who worked at Tim Hortons actually did this scam and got away with it.

Stealing from people is definitely not cool.
When I was in high school I beat the shit out of a kid for stealing a pencil out of my backpack. I beat him so bad his family tried to sue me for medical expenses and I got expelled from my school.
Yea it was just a pencil, but I wasn’t about getting disrespected. Plus it was a damn fine pencil.
So yea, that was one surprised mother fucker.
Point is, you never know how the person you’re stealing from is going to react. You could wind up in a world of shit.

i had a real nice hustle going when i worked at wendy's that anyone can get away with.
McDonalds AND Burger King were closed for renovation so we had more customers than ever. I used to ring up a good 250 orders in a 5 hour shift. So the trick is when people buy fast food and they are going to be getting say 4 dollars back Give them 3, if they notice say my mistake and give them their other dollar but i did this for months and i only would have one or two a day say something. People are in a hurry at places like this and never pay attention or even want a receipt.
So basically you rip off a dollar from every order you can wait untill you've racked up 20+ dollars and just take whatever amount it is out of the register before you close. Your register will never be short, and no one would be the wiser.
One night i specifically remember taking a hundred dollars out of the register. I made more money doing this than i did in my actual paycheck.

also, most kids are smarter than this but some throw thier books away each semester. if you feel like going dumpster diving you could prolly find a few.

i worked at costco earlier in the year and after a week or so i decided i really didnt like the job, at the same time i also realised i could ring up a customer and have the price right there. then delete it and charge the customer the full price while as far as the store was concerned no transaction took place... i worked in the food court also and we only accepted cash, and it also is different depending on what king of till your working with. most of the major fast food companies have computers that track each transaction, deletion, ect... but costco's where old... i did get fired from there.. because i no called a couple times, and i wasnt friendly enough apparently. they did meantion tho when i left that my tills were 100 dollars over HAHA

I used to rock the $1 scam. I had some serious flair going on so I would give the customer $1 less and drop one penny in the little compartment where the debit slips go.
When I did my cash out at the end of my shift, I would count the pennies, so if there were 50...I would take $50 out of the till and it was never short. I worked in a really busy place too, so I would take at least $80 every shift. People rarely notice and if they did, it was just an honest mistake. "Sorry 'bout that! Here's your dollar!"
I also know someone who did the gas station scam. He got a job, worked for like 3 days and had his buddy come over and 'rob' him. There was about $600 cash, they split it and totally got away with it. Probably can't get away with that kind of stuff at big corporate gas stations, but the little corner station in the middle of nowhere is easy pickin's.
I also used to steal a lot of clothes. I would take armloads of stuff into the change room and put some on underneath the clothes I was wearing and put some in my backpack. Then I would buy one cheap thing, like a t-shirt or some jewelery to give the impression I was a good consumer and leave. This was years ago, I don't think you can get away with this one anymore. Most places watch you like a hawk if you have a backpack.
I would also save all my bus transfers until I had one for every day of the month, then the following month I would use the corresponding day to get on the bus.
Airmiles! When I worked at a Shell gas station I got myself an Airmiles card. Every single time I had a customer who did not have an airmiles card, I would swipe my card, or if they were standing there I would manually enter the numbers and rack up my points. I would cash them in for A&P grocery store certificates mostly.... free groceries!
Those are all from my teenage years tho. These days I just go to work and pay for my shit like a normal person.

That penny bit is good - means you don't need to blatently pocket the dollar.
This girl I know has done a lot of insurance scams. She's had her house 'robbed' several times but really she just left all her gear at a m8s until the heat was off.
She also got a guy to smash her car with his truck and claimed insurance on that.
If your a jackass then all you need to do is take out a fat personal injury insurance then go and break your arm.
One of my friends also robbed books at college. Though not off the students. He went down to the local book retailer with a sports bag and just loaded it up and walked back out the door! The fucker did it 3 times and was never caught.
Round here theres alotta chumps that pinch to order. Ask them to get you anything from a shop and they will do it half price or less. I used to get all my computer games this way. The guy would take the disks outta the box, as the discs didn't have the security tag on them.

Lots of these wouldn't work. Walmart prints the time on the reciepts, they also have plain clothes security officers working around 3. So you'ld have to have another person buy the same tv with in a few minutes of it and pass you the reciept. Also setting off the alarm on big ticket electronics tends to cause problems. Also felonly. A much better route is to switch the bar code stickers and put a cheap similar product sticker over an expensive item. Go to an older check out person. they will deactivate the item and Print the recipt. The person at the door might check your reciept if you buy big items. Do not allow them to or buy smaller items that fit in bags. I've only done this with fish. I scooped my own and wrote the feeder fish price on them. So i got like 11 gold fish 5 dollar ones for about 80 cents.
The pharmacy one you'd obviously have to wait until near the refill date to call in that's obvious. The reasons it might not work are. I think all the persons info is on computer. SO you'd look dumb saying umm no i can't remember my birthday, ss number. Unless that's on the reciept or the storing info part is wrong. Some people steal percription pads from doctor write up won then put their number as return would need to be out of area d store. The continental bfast. one Lots of ritsy places give you a coupon that you have to use at the register. Everyone i've been to so They normally only give out 2 free ones per room. So this could be a way to rip yourself off.
As far as hotels go. Lots of expensive ones have bars, gyms ect. Almost all chi town ones do. THe bar is often left open. Swear to god i did this. Dress nicely get a duffel bag. Go to the bar before it opens> Go behind bar fill duffel bag with expensive liquor walk out. The door coul be locked. PIcking doors is easy, wait until no ones around.
Buy fake mj it looks real sell it to kids. No prob even if you get busted. No ones goign to admit to trying to buy "real" stuff.
um some hard ones to pull off. Steal mail from large corporations some send out checks for millions. Set up fake accts with bank in exsact name of person on check. Cash. You also have to register a business fast. seen this on tv.
cut holes in roofs/ ladder, steal, sell on ebay.
sell ligous to kids
Everything has mark up, their are a lot of cost that go into making a business the profit margin isn't all that much this doesn't make stealing right.
stealing gas they will catch your liscense plate on camera they won't activate pump unless they can read it, then call you in to police.
Also if you enter a store the return is near the front so you can't do that take an item from the shelf and return it with an old reciept. This would be very hard to pull off.

i think they sell deactivator scanners at some places.
there's always the buy a wire cutter/stripper open car door strip ignition wire connect to battery wire spark with black wire, break stearing lock, take off.
apply for credit cards in other peoples names, using stolen mail, figure out how long they tkae to deliver, stel mail ocntaining credit card. You can use these at atm's to advance cash or buy expensive electronics online. They can trace purchases.
Make your own police uniform can't be that hard. Have friends make one too. This is felony. Take "counterfit" money from business succcch as stip clubs ect.
Steal somone's identity empty out bank account.

When I was 7 or 8, someone told me that hot salt water poured into the coinslot would give you all the cokes that you wanted. I tried it on the first machine right outside the apartment I lived in. When it didn't work... I moved over and tried it on the next machine.
I got my ass tore off when my mom came home and found 4 white crystaline coke machines.

-Steal someones checkbook and forge their name, cash that shit
-I ran a sidewalk sale for a carpet company. Simply dont write a receipt for the items, keep the money
-Shoplift
-Go into a grocery store when its busy. Pick up a 30 case of beer and walk out as if there is no problem. Like someone else said, if you look scared, you'll be caught. The key is to be non-chalant, as a real paying customer would.

why am i catching so much goddamn flack for having stolen clothes as a teenager when other people are talking about armed robbery?
The person that's chastising me suggested I rob my pot dealer.
This is a hustle thread, the morality is obviously in shades of gray.
And wtf is up with the "get a job, scumbag" comment. I'm talking about shit I did when I was a teenager... obviously I've found a way to support myself since then....
i think you people need to reread posts before you flame. I was pissed because someone actually suggested that robbing a dealer was equitable to shoplifting in terms of effectiveness.... mmmmmm no. Sorry if I offended anyone, but what I did was pretty tame compared to what these other people were doing....
There's a reason I stopped shoplifting, and it was because it was stupid and boring and risky. I think lots of girls go through phases where they start stealing expensive clothes instead of buying them, especially if you grow up in a wealthy area and the pressure to only wear a t-shirt that cost $50 is intense. Then they realize that they don't need the clothes or the pressure and start wearing ripped up jeans and shirts from middle school.
I got started stealing with books from Barnes and Noble because I didn't have enough money for the books I wanted, and the library didn't carry them because they were uniformly banned in the backwards hole of a region I lived in. How are you supposed to read Kurt Vonnegut when you're a broke ass fifteen year old, not allowed to get a job, and your library decides you can't have access to it for free? I treated it like my own personal library, and I usually returned things I'd nabbed from the bookshelves.

Well, being a teenager means you're at least 13. At 14 you could get a job, and spend all of your money on the shit you stole, since you have no other expenses at that age. So yes, you should have gotten a job. Or at least not not excuse it now. I stole when I was a teenager too. I was also a scumbag for doing so.

I wasn't allowed to get a job. I already posted that, but you didn't read it.
Unfortunately I was raised in a household that held firmly to the belief that
a. a woman getting a job under the age of 18 is asking to get raped
b. children should not and WILL NOT have jobs if they are in school.
Since you need parental consent to get a job when you are underage, I was unable to attain one.
My allowance was $5 a week.
This doesn't excuse my idiocy for shoplifting. (If you've read any of my posts, I admit this was reckless and fucking stupid). But it does explain why I WASNT ALLOWED TO WORK.
As soon as I turned 18 I worked two jobs all summer before I went to university (where I was told not to get a job, or else $30000 of tuition would not be paid). I worked full time as an accountant/data entry slave, and part time in the evening at Gamestop.
I like working and have since spent a lot of time on the job market. I am by no means lazy.

It's unfortunate you need parental consent to get a job, I don't recall ever needing to. And you're right, I didn't read your post. I assumed it was filled with the same tired justification everyone has for stealing. What a surprise, I was right, it does. Basically it comes down to this: You don't have the money to get what you want, so you steal it. In my book this isn't reasonable justification, so frankly I don't care if you weren't permitted to have a job. You stole, whatever, it's not a big deal that you did it, it's a big deal that you think it's okay.
Oh, and I also never called you lazy.

Of course it's not a reasonable justification for stealing. Stealing is something idiotic teenagers do for kicks. I was an idiotic teenager. I stole.
My defense was not based on the morality of theft, which is not moral, but whether it was more moral to rob your local pot dealer than to rob a large, evil, exploitative corporation.
In general, I think it is immoral to steal, unless:
You are starving and need food
Your children are starving and need food
You are caught in a natural disaster and need to forage for items that are useful: inflatable rafts, fire extinguishers, gas masks, anti biotics, etc.
And I still think it's immoral to PURCHASE items from those corporations. Just as immoral as stealing from them. By purchasing their products you are supporting irresponsible personnel habits embedded in the corporate culture.
If anyone is interested in abstinence from consumerism, i would like to refer you to the Reverend Billy, a creation of the artist Billy Talen, and his Church of Stop Shopping.

My parents are very, very conservative. They think the world is a dangerous place where men are waiting to rape their daughters every second of the day. Also, they think it is unbecoming for young women to have jobs.
I was cloistered. I was more or less confined to the house until around 17, when I was allowed occasional nights out/ trips to the mall...
Naturally I had an urge to escape and rebel, which manifested itself into idiotic teenage logical gaffes.
I guess if you don't grow up in a hyper-suburbanized southern area it sounds weird, but to my parents this was totally normal behavior.
My dad also repeatedly told me I was UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES allowed to date men until my late twenties..... they still think they have some sort of moralizing control over my life, and I've been out of the house for four years and living with my bf for a year and a half.
When I told my dad who I was moving in with I had to run from the house before he beat the living shit out of me or tried to strangle me (again). I cracked up laughing while he was screaming, his face looks really funny when it turns purple. He's bald, so his whole head changes color.
I love my family though, they're just a little backwards. They mean well.

One time a guy tried to tell me this (though he was in a car and needed gas...I saw him put some in) however, he started the conversation with "I need gas...I don't do any drugs...I am just broke". I just happened to be out lookin for drugs, so I responded with if you help me find drugs, I will lend you the cash. Of course, he knew exactly where to get the drugs...haha.

StonedShroom said: most of these scams aren't even possible, especially the digging the duplicate out of the dumpster trick. My mom runs a pharmacy, and that's just not possible on so many levels that I'm not even going to list. I'll just say that all scripts are checked through a nationwide database, and you can't get a refill for anything the next day, especially any scheduled substances. fucking retards. that sounds like some plan you devised while sitting around passing a bong with your other retarded friends, or something that may have worked 10 years ago.
stoned shroom you are the fucking retard. when i found this scam out i gave it to some people i know and they had no trouble getting bottles of 100 vicodans, xanax, ritalin, ect. they did it for about 6 months and then got tired of it. but you shouldn't talk about shit you don't know about.
you are the fucking retard.
to the other kid who said this scam wouldn't work, the duplicate labels have all their info on it. address, birthday, ect. usually they just ask for name and birthday, sometimes address or phonenumber.
edit: also i do not smoke weed, so you are doubly wrong. i disovered the scam while dumpster diving, and i kept finding empty pill bottles. so i went home and looked up pharamacy procedures onine and i found a website advising pharmacies to lock their dumpsters because people steal duplicate labels.
fag.

you're fucking lying, or you live in the middle of fucking nowhere outside the united states.
Pharmacies must run every script through a system that is connected to a nationwide database. They would catch the same exact script getting refilled, from the same pharmacy chain, if not the SAME FUCKING pharmacy. There is no fucking way in hell a pharmacy would refill the same script the next day.
there is absolutely NO WAY, unless, of course, you live outside the United States.
My mom fucking runs a pharmacy, dickhead. Trust me, she's told every story in the fucking book about how people try to rip the system.
the only way this could remotely work is if you get it refilled 30 days after it was originally filled, and pray you get it refilled before the actual person calls in their own prescription. Oh, and not to mention you would either have to produce an insurance card with the original person's info or be able to pay full price for the for the script- along with an ID that matches the name for the script.
And if for some miraculous reason the pharmacy broke SEVERAL laws and let you get away with this shit, it will not be in business for much longer, since every single pill has to be accounted for by legitimate scripts. so this would get caught during an audit- at which point the pharmacy would get fined and if you do this as often as you let on, multiple offenses will lead to the pharmacy losing its license.
you're the retard. fucking idiot.
and I'm 99.9% sure pharmacies don't just toss the duplicates in the trash. I'll ask my mom tomorrow.
EDIT: oh and why were you dumpster diving if you were able to afford to have a computer and internet?
shut the fuck up.
