Handling Cakes...

Birthed 3 cakes last Friday. Each cake is separately housed in small Rubbermaid containers using the perlite humidification technique. The containers are kept on the floor on the side of my bed as to allow enough light for them to pin. Two cakes show signs of pinning, the other does not.

My problem:

Last night during what must have been an intense dreaming session, the blanket on my bed was knocked off and knocked one of the terrarium (Rubbermaid containers) over. When I awoke, I noticed the perlite was spilled onto the carpet and the cake (sans pins) was sitting on top of the Rubbermaid lid right side up. Perlite had stuck to some of the cake as well.

My question: Am I still safe? I gently tried to brush some of the perlite off, rehydrated the perlite that was still at the bottom of the Rubbermaid container, and placed the cake back in. Is this alright?


Also, does using the Dunk Tek add a higher risk of contams?

A similar event happened to a fictional friend.............Lets just say some alcohol was involved and a terrarium was uprooted. These things happen..........anyway, the cakes inside were fine. Hope yours are too.
