How long are dried shrooms safe?

Hi everyone,

I feel a bit weird posting so openly about a subject so illegal, but oh well, here goes. I'd prefer being arrested and such over suffering major psychological/ physiological damage.

I recently obtained some 'shrooms, dried, and found that the quantity was quite overwhelming. After sharing a bit, there is still a little bit left, but it has now been sitting for about a week in a Ziploc bag, not refridgerated. Is it still safe? How long will it be safe for? How can I tell? Thank you very much for your information, in advance.

If they're cracker dry (break when you bend them), they will last for years without the fridge.

Thanks for the help, they are, in fact, "cracker dry". I figured though, since most natural food substances go bad eventually, that a halloconogenic food substance would be even worse.. I guess not.

When was the last time you saw fully dried foods go bad?  This is why freeze dried meals last for years.  On Earth, no water usually equals no life.  Understand? :smile:

yeah, and about your worried about posting so openly. just say you know a friend who obtained some shrooms. or just say if you happen to ever obtain som shrooms. shit, say your mothers best freinds fathers sister roomates dog....just as long as you never actually SAY anything about you, then babylon has nothing on you.

Here is my experience when I grew shrooms:

One bag of fully dried shrooms in tight packed bag.
About 5g dry packed into some gelcaps at the same time.

6 months later.

Bag of shrooms useless (it wasn't vacuum packed)
5g dry in gelcaps: still packing a PUNCH.

Really, if you pack a gelcap really well (ie spend the time with an item shaped like the gelcap pushing the shrooms down you can near a gram in a normal one and there will be no air for the matter to decompose.

I don't think there is a more effective storage method than a well packed gelcap.

You really should drop some dessicant in the ziplock with the dried mushrooms if you plan to store them for so long.

The dessicant needs to be contained somehow. Don't just sprinkle it on the shrooms.

Yeah, that would work fine. I like to make bags out of coffee filters and fill it with silica gel.
