4 Oz's of GT w/ 1 spore syringe?--->Beginner

Just started growing a few days ago. Got Golden Teachers through Sporeworks in 5 days, bought a dozen 1/2 pint jars, verm, BRF, pressure cooked for 30 minutes, used PF tek and Oven tek to provide 8 ml for the whole dozen jars. Am using an electric blanket to keep temps around 82 F.

Is it possible to grow 4 Oz's in one grow cycle with a dozen 1/2 pint jars that will be cased?

Will the electric blanket dry out my jars?--->I was thinking of wrapping the jars in plastic to keep the moisture in.

Any thoughts or ideas please respond!

Doubt it. But of course it depends on your tek. Poo tek, maybe. Case with vermiculate probably unlikely.

No, I don't think 4 oz. is possible from a dozen jars. Thats like, hmmmm....around 112 grams. Unless you mean 4 oz wet, then yeah you can get it

And yeah, the electric blanket will dry your jars out. Do a search on how to build an incubator.

If this is your first try, let me give you some advice, yields should be the last thing you are worried about, cause there's a sh*tload of obsticles to get over before you even see a shroom. Just learn the tek and do it until you are successful, then start worrying about yields.

4 ounces dry from 12 PF jars is very unlikely for a newbie. maybe 2 and a half ounces from 6 meat loaf tin casings through 3 flushes. you'd have to assume you don't get any contamination problems as well, which is also unlikely for a newbie.

What the other dude said....dont count your chicks till they're hatched. I would also leave the idea of obtaining "optimum" conditions, many times by trying to attempt this, you introduce all kinds of other conditions, certianly not optimal ones.
Try incubating your jars simply...room temp in a box...that way you'll at least see the end of the colonization period.

Thanks for everyones imput. I am just trying to shoot for the stars with this first grow. I am worried a little about the electric blanket though. Could I wrap the jars in plastic or put them all in a large plastic bag so that the moisture stays in the jars? I have read about incubating them but since I already have a electric blanket, I figure that will do the trick.--->Note: I keep it on a very low setting and have measured the temps to around 80 to 85 F so I know they are not being exposed to too much heat.

Get a 50 watt fish tank heater and a styrofoam cooler=$15,you be better off don't want to chance the jars drying out.

I keep mine in a cabinet above my oven , so is an awesome incubator . But here where I live temp is easy to control .

I'ts possible. 3 pints (thats 6 half pints) with some good homemade compost yeilded over 74 dried grams first flush! Double that and you got your 4 oz's. ( double compost ratio too)
You gotta know what your doing though.

yea if you did 4 nice sized horse poop casings with that 1 1/2 pints of spawn per thing i think you could get a oz dry from each of them if ya know what you are doin at least a little bit

You could get that easily on the first flush if you had four trays filled with two pints of colonized grain each.  Case and wait.  'Nuff said.  :wink:

Also you could dump for pans of dung/compost into a big rubbermaid container and spawn em in there And  you'd get good results :smile:

Sterilise honey-water, remove a pencil eraser size chunk of mycellum at birth,dip in 1in3 peroxide for 10 minutes, then place it in the honey-water solution ,add 1 cc of 3% peroxide , wait till mycellum spreads to honey-water solution ,shake and then use the resulting mycellial solution to innoculate more jars of substrate or another jar of honey water.Then you will get as many oz of dried shrooms as you want from the ONE SYRINGE that you mention in your post. :grin: :grin:

the electric blanket is not a good idea.  i experimented with that about 4yrs ago and that was the last time.

4 0z. from 12pf jars just starting out?  possible, but not likely.  i definitely want to see a grow log and pictures if you accomplish it though!  good luck :smile:

Got rid of the electric blanket, am going to go out and buy a aquarium heater to incubate the jars. Thinking of trying the poo tek even though I don't have much access to poo, what other things can I use to spawn my casing, I was thinking about the 50/50 mix with oyster shells for the casing, any Ideas on other spawns I can go out and buy?

Its been close to 5 days since I spored the jars and NO growth, whats up?--->I only used about .67 ml per jar, could that be part of the problem?

If you have no contams and use the pf double casing tek you should get about one and a quarter ounces more or less from 12 cakes dont wait until after the first cake flush to do the double ended casing tek as is described on the pf site do it when you birth the cakes this will keep a lot more water content in the cake after the second cake flush you can dunk the cakes in some water and maybe get a third flush If you want four dry ounces from cakes you should maybe do 32 cakes I get 4-5 ounces from this many you will have tio use about 4 syringes though
