I agree with VSOPXO, you can do poo with a cake. I think grain may be harder to work with because of the difficulties in obtaining optimal water to grain ratio, especially for a newbie. Roadkills tek is simple and effective. I think if you are able to follow the PF tek, you are able to follow Road's tek.

I disagree completely. Just simmer your grain for 30-45 minutes, rinse, strain, and PC. Simple as that and always perfect moisture levels.

You cant calculate harvest weights by spore syringes. 1/2 cc of spores could grow hundreds of lbs of mushrooms, spores dont mean anything when it comes to harvests.

If your only going for shrooms then you should have gone with grains but whatever you do good luck!

Well it's been roughly 3 weeks since I spored my jars and colonization is roughly 70-85% on all jars with no contams (pretty good for the first time). I plan on spawning these jars with equal amounts of worm casting and possibly straw. I plan on casing with 50/50 when all of the worm casting has become covered with mycellium. Anyone have any good ideas on how many jars per casing or how much worm casting to add, and should I add the straw as well?


What will be my yield with 12 half pint jars PF style???
Your gold---4+ ounces
Good start---3-4 ounces
Average---1-3 ounces
Shitty---Less than an ounce

Well just found some cobwebs on the top of one of my jars, and small brownish tanish spots on two other jars... Any ideas if they will be alright since the mycellium network is pretty well established and will be able to fend for itself???
