Easier and better method (less contam risk):
simply set the cakes directly on moist perlite after the first flush. Remove from direct contact as soon as 2nd pins show. You know how perlite sucks that moisture right up into the air for humidification teks? Well it sucks it right into the cakes just as well. 5 flushes from cakes can (and have been) accomplished.
