So what?  One day.  And tacky as well.  It takes a consummate retard to think she wasn't going to need new clothes for this stage.  It actually speaks quite well of her that she didn't have this designer crap in the first place.  That they had to get it for her is to her credit and credentials as a regular human being.  How come the community organizer who has never really ever had a paying job has $1,500 dollar suits.  What about his shoes, his shirts?  Front Page questions!

This has nothing to do with the topic, but I just looked out my apartment window and saw like 100 people walking down the street carrying flags and giant Obama photos. Kinda strange.

the last few weeks of driving around here, I've seen 3
McCain/Palin signs and no Obama/Biden signs, I wonder why that
is, could it be that rednecks are smarter than they appear

except for the 3 with signs in their yards

How has he never had a paying job again? Isn't he in the senate? Did they stop paying?

I assume that the RNC convention stage cost a similar amount.

Speaking of the convention stages, the DNC stage looked like something you'd see on American Idol. It was ridiculously flashy.

Lets take another look at this thing.

vs

What do you figure the cost difference was between the two?

Ya, but the equipment is worth millions, not tens of thousands.  Rental alone has to be tens of thousands per day.

I'd say 100k versus the dnc 140k.

PS: old people can't stand the flashy flash quite so well

Note: American Idol sucks

Palin is just as dumb as as they cum.  Caught wearing a vote democrat scarf on the campaign trail.

If she cant even get looking good right, how can she be the number two in charge of our great country?

I think you're a little off in it's cost, unless the DNC just likes to over pay for all that stuff

McCain has spent ~4.5 million on campaign events.  Barack has spent ~16.5 million.  Okay, those weren't the numbers I was hoping to see, but I won't shield you from them because they don't go my way.

If McCain had more money he would be doing the same.

It's funny when they say Obama is trying to "buy votes" yet his supporters are where he gets his money from. Wasn't it like $150 mil that he raised in Sept?

With that said I think the spending has gotten totally out of hand. They should all have a set amount of money to work with. Maybe something like $50 mil to use in election and primary season that has to be received through individual supporters with caps like $100 a piece.

Thank you for sharing those numbers for the events.

It's common knowledge that Obama is spending (overall) far more than McCain. B-Rock is on pace to shatter G.W.'s record as the most expensive campaign in US history, afaik.

But my point is that I'm seeing Republican national convention costs under "staging" (late August, early Sep) of 40,000 on the first page alone out of nineteen pages. (AT&T, American A/V).

I happen to be something of an expert on a/v and know the approximate costs.

*in advertising expenses apparently.

Quote:
Agencies Posted: Oct 18, 2008 at 1400 hrs
New York, October 18: Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama is all set to break the advertising expenses record in a election set by President George W Bush, a media report said.

Based on his current spending, Campaign Media Analysis Group (CMAG), a service that monitors political advertising, predicts Obama's advertising campaign will surpass the USD 188 million Bush spent in his 2004 campaign by early next week.

With advertisements running unabatedly on all local and national broadcast networks and even on video games and his own dedicated satellite channels, the Democrat nominee is out-advertising his Republican rival McCain nationwide by a ratio of at least 4-to-1, the New York Times said, citing CMAG.

The huge gap has been made possible by Obama's decision to opt out of the federal campaign finance system, which provides Presidential nominees USD 84 million in public money and prohibits them from spending any amount above that from their party convention to Election Day.

McCain, however, is participating in the system.

Obama, who has earlier promised to participate in it, is expected to announce in the next few days that he has raised more than USD 100 million in September, a figure that would shatter fund-raising records.

John McCain has spent USD 91 million on advertising since he clinched his party's nomination, several months before Obama clinched his.

I see another 59k on page six for RNC staging via "Event Strategies," bringing the total cost to 100k already.

Another 47k on page nine, 69k on page ten, 37k on 11, 14k on 14, 15k on 15, 35k on 16, 10k on 18, plus about 15k misc in between, so it seems we've already beat Obama's stage.

Total cost: ~341,000 dollars

PS: yes, I'm bored :smirk:

Also, the amount of money I see for catering costs in between all these is appalling.  I'm guessing right now that one million of that 4.5 went to wining and dining bigwigs.
