growing chamber problem

i'm just working on my growing chamber
this is my prob:
i have a humidifer connected to my GC, which provides hot steam.
i know this is not perfect, but the temperature dows not rise so much at all when i use it...
i thought i could turn it on for a minute and have a humidity for 80% or so for some time. i'm measuring with a digital hygrometer inside the box.
but when i turn it on for a minute the humidity starts to rise slowly, until the hygrometer shows "HI" (> 95 %) and it won't get lower until i put on the fan. but then it gows to 70% - 65% - 60%...
the point is i cannot hold a stable humidity in this fu**-box... :mad:

is it normal, that the humidity rises up to nearly 100% or is my hygrometer not working right?

no, i'm just getting started with my humidifier, no perlite

exacly thats the problem:
i turn the humidifier just one minute, but the humidity rises from 60% to 65% to 70% to 75% to >95%...
i just can't get it stable at a humidity of 80% e.g.
in my opinion thats just not logical

What kind of hygrometer are you using? Hygrometers aren't accurate in the high %rH areas.

it is a digital one and was not cheap at all (ca. 20 euro = 20 $)
it has a range from 15% to 100% (over 95% is "HI")
i did not find any malfunction yet...
