Ok, socialism != communism, McCain's brother is not McCain,  and they have never explicitly stated that Obama voters are terrorists or anti-American.

I will continue to wait for someone to show quotes of McCain or Palin saying these things, though.

What do you mean, "So?"  The question in the title of this thread is "Is Colin Powell a liberal?"  I, unlike most other people, answered it directly.  Affirmative Action is a decidedly liberal policy.  Also a racist one.  Any more questions?

Communism is a type of socialism. And to the average voter, they are equivalent.

McCain has not repudiated his own brother's commments.

Palin spoke of pro-American parts of the country. Does this mean that there are anti-American parts of the country? Can you take a guess what parts of the country she believes are anti-American?

So, since when is Affirmative Action a litmus test for whether an individual is a conservative or liberal?

Powell is a moderate Republican - there is no doubt about that. He is neither a conservative nor liberal - he shares views of both ideologies.

No.

See, communication by language goes beyond just literal utterances. There is always context, nuance, intonation, and innuendo. And a skilled politician uses all of the above to get a message across without being the target of such derogatory speech. When Palin says there is a pro-America part of the country, she also believes there is an anti-Americia part of the country. When McCain's own brother calls Obama voters communists and McCain says nothing and does not issue a statement denoucing that belief, he accepts his brother's words.

If Obama's sister called McCain voters fascist, Obama would be linked to this comment even if he denounced his words.

All the info you need. And if you read it carefully, Powell supports both conservative positions and liberal positions. Powell also has a long history of serving in Republican administrations (Nationial Security Advisor for Reagan, Joint Chiefs of Staff under Bush Sr, and Sec. of State under Bush 2) as well as voting Republican and campaigning for Republican candidates.

What does this all mean? He's a moderate Republican - centrist, even. Not a conservative. Not a liberal.

How does that make him a Republican?  According to your link he comes out as a Libertarian.  Unfortunately, they are not the same thing.

If you go down the list and take note of Powell's stance on issue after issue, you'll see that he is a middle-of-the road American. Couple this with his long history of working in Republican administrations as well as campaigning for Republican candidates and presumably voting Republican (since he calls the Republican Party "his party"), he's a moderate, centrist Republican.

And if you look at the graphic, you'll see his pretty much smack-dab in the middle of the issue, hence Powell is neither a liberal nor conservative. Whatever that particular website means by "Moderate Libertarian" is inconsequential and irrelevant.
