Ready to harvest?

The strain is Type-Z. The plants are nearing the time to harvest but this is the first flush and i'm unsure of proper timing. Basically the caps are nearly full grown and the white films is starting to pull away from the stem but gills have not quite shown. Also, the stage is hard to tell due to visual obstruction from the sterile environment. Does anyone know if it is safe to open this container to get a full view of the plants? It is now two weeks into the fruiting stage and all spores (i believe) have sprouted. However, contamination is still a possibility, i would assume.

Thanks for any advice.

It should be safe just dont stick your hands in there after ya peed and not washed. lol. No seriously you can harvest them if ya like. If you want spore prints wait a day or 2.

I think you mean mushrooms, not plants, if i am right you should be opening the "sterile environment" to release CO2 a couple times a day? Or do you have a automatic way of air flow? I'm going to guess you dont. Pick the shrooms when the veil (white films) starts taring away. unless you want to print them, in which case you would let them grow longer.

After the mycelium has grown [the white fluffy stuff, from the JAR stage] if Im correct, the fungus then has the ability to fight off most contams. Obviously if you stick a nasty shoe in there, theyre gonna get moldy, but its strong enough at this pnt to handle everyday air. And you should be opening it and fanning 2-3 times a day!

As for when to harvest, I waited until the veils where sagged down. You said yours where just disconnected from the cap, which means Ide say one more day, but thats just the timing I had. Like I said, I just waited till the veils flopped down.

NO!!!!!!! do NOT, i repeat DO NOT open your grow chamber EVER!!! your shrooms are just for viewing pleasure, oppening  and exposing them to your living enviroment will surley kill you instantly, and cause an epidemic of sudden death worldwide :grin: hahahaha, me so funny, i crack my self up sometimes.....EAT EM DUDE!!!!! go for it......congrats on the success by the way :grin:
