my ass was burning to the point where i couldnt even get comfortable enough to fall asleep so i went to the drug store at 2:30 am and bought some preparation h cooling gel which is supposed to releive the burning. well i put it on and it made it about 5 times worse my ass is on fire and im in serious pain now. what the fuck?

I know that shit's not fun. (No pun intended.)

Generally, the cooling gel will burn like fiery death for a short time, then your ass gets desensitized to it and you feel better. It's a stupid solution in a way, but it does work sometimes. Kind of depends on the mind state and how bad the inflammation is.

The next solution is ice. Ice that shit up. Wrap some cubes into a tube-like structure in some several layers of plastic wrap or something. Obviously you're going to want to use smooth cubes if possible. Let them melt a bit first if you've got sharp-edge-style ice cube trays.

I've been dealing with chronic issues in the that area for years, and I wouldn't wish that condition on my worst enemy... so try the above if you haven't.
