During Vietnam it was used quite often to refer to the enemy... "gooks in the wire" for example.. of course, Charlie was used in the same way.  Donno that I am refuting you, or supporting you...

I can't tell if you're being coy. Gook is a well-known racial slur. It's on par with nigger and spic:

Really?  Vietnamese is a race now?  I don't think that term was ever used to refer to a Japanese person.  They were called Japs, not gooks.  I think they're the same race, as well.  Funny how that shit works.
