im 21 and attending community colledge. i moved out for a while but wanted to move back in and get some education before i got to stuck in a life.

why not live off parents? they'l be living off of you when they're too old to take care of themselves. unless your the type of person who throws them away in a nursing home like a used kleenex.

I disagree, and I think this attitude we have in America is very detrimental to our family bonds and social fabric.  There are many cultures in the world where people live with their parents until they get married, and also often also have their elderly parents live with them.  This makes sense in so many ways; less social isolation, the ability to spend more time with the people you care most about in life, money savings, chores can be shared, etc.  Of course, I don't think grown kids should "mooch" off their parents either.  They should be contributing to the household.

I haven't lived with my parents since I went to college at age 18. I haven't taken money from them (except for emergencies) for years. I find it hard to respect people who spend their youth leeching off of their parents instead of getting a job and taking care of themselves.

Same as me but I've had a fuckload of 'emergencies'. Thank God someone has been there for me

same here, I started working at 13yo bussing tables and
washing dishes with an odd baby sitting job now and then, I
left home at 17, I kept 25% of my paycheck until I was 24, the
rest went to help my mom, she was in a financial bind that
wasnt of her making, now she lives with me and I dont get any
of my paycheck, but she does a much better job of handling the
finances than I do.

i'd rather not work and just fend for my own in nature

I don't mind working, but I definately would rather live as a hunter-gatherer in nature.  Not my entire life, but definately for extended periods of time.  Some of my friends and I are tossing around the idea of trying this next summer.

I currently live on my own, but I don't mind living with my parents.  I work and I help them with things that need done and I get free room and board in return.  Works for everyone.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

Sounds like the kids are learning early then because this statement is mostly true.

I feel like these lines are regularly repeated by people in their mid twenties.

Hey now I am in my mid twenties and the first time I did mushrooms I did realize that we are all one lol!

You say "should not" like it's necessarily a bad thing :smirk:

I moved out when I went to University at age 19. Then I moved back home for the summer after first year. Then I moved out again until I was almost 23, at which point I moved back home (I wasn't in school anymore, and got a job offer near my mothers). I lived at home for another three years, until I was 26 at which point I moved out with my gf.

I did not live at home for free (although MUCH cheaper than I could have lived on my own). I was paying rent to my mom the entire time. I did not leech off my parents, and I take offense to you saying "people in their mid-twenties should not be living in their parents house".

When people say they have "english and math class tomorrow" it usually means they are highschoolers IMO. Most college students have fancier class names.

Someone linking to a group of extremely old police attack videos and/or videos of people getting stoned on youtube?

Also, its fairly true that many young adults (19-30) are still living with their parents. It comes with as many negative aspects as it does positive, but I refute anyone who makes the claim that it creates dependence or is "leeching" off someones work. Unless of course that person also never claims any inheritance from someones death in their lifetime. Then they're just leeching off the hard work of the dead person...
