I don't think any scientist would use the word "faith" since religion turned its meaning from "firm belief in something for which there is no proof" to "firm belief in something for which there is absolutely no proof and doesn't even make any sort of sense."

We'll call it common sense combined with an educated guess instead, until someone suggests something more euphemistic.

Your idea of judicial legislation is anything you don't agree with.

Also, let's see a reasonably made argument by someone familiar with Constitutional law against the ruling of how the Establishment Clause applies.

Lets get all federal money out of the schools, then the local fools can vote for whatever they want.  How is federal money for schools constitutional?  Render unto the states that which is the states.

A great many people have argued that the Establishment clause has been horribly expanded far beyond any original intent.  How do you stand on legislation by justices?  You seem to be quite in favor of it.  An unelected patriarchy, unfireable and unaccountable, ruling over everythhing?

I think this is yet another point where they have overstepped.

You're hitting on something, but you're a little bit off.  Giving discretionary money (block grants) to schools is constitutional under any circumstances, but giving non-discretionary money (categorical grants), could easily be interpreted to violate that concept.

semantics, both have belief without proof

call it what you want, it still relies on faith

But notice that abiogenesis has nothing to do with the Theory of Evolution.  They're two spereate ideas.  You can disbelieve abiogenesis all you want.  But to disbelieve that we descended from bacteria is ignorance, plain and simple.

they may be 2 seperate theories/models but they're closely
ties, without an origin there should be no life to evolve, it
falls back to faith unless bacteria just spontaneously
generated from nothing like matter in the big bang which again
leads us to faith

There's no need for faith.  Given that there isn't enough evidence to illuminate the issue, I really don't care how bacteria got there.  God could have put them there for all I care.

But from archaebacteria onward, the fact that life diversified through evolution is undeniable.  You can even believe that God designed life to be able to evolve in this fashion, and that God is what resolves quantum wavefunctions to their eigenvalues (which is to say that God steered evolution along His intended path).  But once you deny that we evolved from bacteria, you're stepping into the realm of ignorance.

You like to throw all these irrelevent and more highly suspect theories to try to prove that evolution is as dogmatic and faith-based as science, which is highly disingenuous. I'm not advocating for any of those other theories, hypotheses, or models.  All I'm saying is that disbelief of the Theory of Evolution can only be achieved through ignorance.

Nope, it relies on hypotheses testable by the collection of data.

I'm simply talking about the origins of life and it's basis in
faith regardless of the views one takes and just because you
dont believe one way or another doesnt stop millions of others
from believing which is what the whole creation argument is
about

Just because someone wrote a book making a claim doesn't mean it's so.  Care to explain how one might go about collecting data to confirm or deny creationism?

I have no problem with people believing in biblical creation.  But when people start believing that biblical creation occured a few thousand years ago, or that biblical creation contradicts evolution, that's what I have a problem with.

Faith is fine to the extent that it doesn't contradict plain simple reason and observation.  I can have faith that the sky is red, but that'd be pretty silly since every time I look at the sky I can see it's blue.

santa was an aminita too... coincidence?

you collect it the same way you would to for claiming a few inanimate molecules created life

I would like to see any evidence that backs up the notion of a creator. That life is too complex for someone to understand doesn't settle it.

now it brings us back to the root of this discussion, where
does Palin ever claim the earth is 6000 years old, the way
I've seen it, biblical creation somewhat parallels evolution,
it's just a fucked up time line, moses was claimed to have
written the stories through the exodus, if in fact 'god'
showed it to him and he saw it in 6 days that would account
for the 6 days of creation... most christians dont believe the
earth is only 6000 years old, most see evolution as fact

but your observation doesnt take into account time of day,
atmospheric conditions, colorblindness, so when you make the
claim the sky is red, it could in fact be red

we all know it's blue because it reflects the oceans

Now McCain and Obama are arguing over who supported banking deregulation back in 1999 (re: Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act; S. 900 [106th]).  Of course, banking deregulation is a stance held almost solely along party lines by the GOP, but now that it's being blamed as a cause of the crisis in the financial markets, McCain will do anything to make it sound to the ignorant like it's not his/their fault.

Check for yourself (as if it's necessary to determine actual ideology here):
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s106-900

This clearly shows that the bill was split along party lines in the senate with McCain and the GOP voting for and the Dems and Biden voting against.  But if you listen to McCain, you'd think the opposite happened, because he says that he didn't vote for the "final bill," also called a conference report (the bill is already all but passed at this point).  If you look, you can see that 90 senators voted for the conference report and he just pulled one of his famous no shows.  Biden of course was one of the 90 senators that approved the compromise between the house and senate versions of the bill.

Any questions, class?

So just because there are only hints of this, a creator should be brought into the discussion, even thou there are NO hints of the existence of a creator whatsoever?

Jeez.... I stop checking the forum for less than a day. Sigh.

Back on topic folks. That includes you, Pris. No more talk of creationism and abiogenesis in this thread.

I suggest all of y'all go back to the opening post, re-read it, then compose your next response (if any) accordingly.
