I used to think this game was gay and boring sounding, but as of a couple weeks ago i have picked it up as a hobby. I plan to keep going to the driving range, being as its free ( a family friend owns it and my step father works there) for me to hit balls. Ive been focusing on accuracy at a shorter distance before even trying to focus on driving at a longer distance etc.

I primarily hit a 9 iron and a wedge. I am decently accurate with the wedge at about 50 yards, and the nine iron at about 100-120 yards, but my main concern is that i tend to slice the ball to the right when hitting 100+ yards, i know that there could be multiple things I'm doing wrong but does anyone have a tip on how NOT to slice the ball?? It would be greatly appreciated.

I know i could watch fucking golf videos on the tube but i really didn't feel like doing that right now, i just need something i can try at the range in a few hours:cool:

i dont play golf anymore, but dont bend the wrists, just strike through the ball.  I used to love smoking bowls on every hole of a game, so much funnnn.

i feel you. used to hate the game. now i love it. i got hooked when i was a teenager, hitting the ball around with a wedge while high on oxy.

Golf is ridiculously difficult.

god you guys sound exactly like me, as me and my friend go to the driving range and since it doesn't matter what i do there we literally just smoke blunts and joints up in the cubicles where you drive from other people HAVE to smell it, lol I was high as fuck on methadone yesterday when we went, and to my surprise i had a rather good session with the 9 and the wedge

But in all seriousness thanks for that tip ill try it when i go, which may be tomorrow evening due to the sky gradually turning more dark blue by the minute, its def gonna rain

Listen, i can fix your slice.

Stand on both feet evenly and balanced with your knees slightly bent. When you swing dont move your front foot.

read that again^


Now your swing:

When you swing keep your arms tight to your chest. do not lift them away from your body.

You are slicing because you are opening the club face up, or in other words you are angling the perpendicular plane of the contact surface to the right. (i assume slice = right, either way its the same problem.)

You can fix this problem by following a few simple steps.

Stand balanced
keep your arms tucked
when you swing make sure your club is going all the way around, you need to make a full swing at a relaxed pace. Don't try to kill it just clear your mind and rotate that club 100% around your body as far as you can.
When your done following through with your swing your wrists should be by your ear and your belly button should be facing the target area....

Now make sure that club head is contacting that ball at a level angle perpendicular to down range.

line up for a shot and do your back swing.
stop when the club makes a line with your waist and look which way the club head is pointing. The proper way is should be pointing is straight up in the air. When you are swinging you are angling it to the side at this point. I know this with out even seeing it if you can crack the ball 100yds an then it turns wicked right. make sure that head is pointing up when the club is waist level by keeping your arms tight with your body. Swing like the ball isn't even there and bring that club all the way around, then make sure your belly button is pointing the right way.


Now that'll be 350$.

if you want a quick fix, just close your stance (move your front foot towards the ball and your back foot away from the ball)

and also strengthen your grip, meaning take the way you hold the club naturally and then rotate your grip slightly to the right so that the club face is a bit more closed as you line up to the ball.

those are just quick fixes i use when i'm slicing and it's a lot easier to do those two things than it is to think about swing mechanics.  especially in the middle of a round.

i used to play in high school... but i only go out and play on rare occasion nowadays with my friends that don't take it too seriously.

it's a bummer though when it gets backed up and you are forced to join some random golfers... then the rest of the round you have to worry about smoking covertly.

I shot very decent this afternoon at the range, ive got a way better grasp on my accuracy now that i have taken alittle advice from a few friends. Bringing my right arm over my left when i strike (im hit right handed), working on stance ect.

Im relatively brutal with the wedge though, love hitting that club
