Suitable tripping music???
    #892153 -

I know that this has probably been covered, but I'm open to some new ideas for good tunes for tripping. Some of my current faves: tangerine dream, vangelis, pink floyd, lords of acid, radiohead, kottonmouth kings, G3, tool, ministry......
Does anyone out there care to suggest a few of their favorites for me to expand my horizons. Thanks to all.

peace

Yea, it's pretty much been asked to death...
Check out Shpongle, The Orb, two of my faves.
Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Etnica, Autechre Orbital are all some great trance/ electronic music.
And if you get nothing else, get Infected Mushroom, you won't be sorry.

I've been really into Infected Mushroom and Sphongle for tripping lately. Look for anything from them.

Dude:

Suggested albums (or cd's if you don't have a turntable or can't find records) to have:

Grateful Dead - Live/Dead
Grateful Dead - Aoxomoxoa
Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead
Grateful Dead - Two from the Vault (It's a really rare live cd set, but damn good)
Pink Floyd - Saucerfull of Secrets
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
Pink Floyd - The Wall (Live)
Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii (it's actually a video)
The Doors - Soft Parade
The Doors - Live/NYC
Allman Brothers Band - The Fillmore Concerts
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold as Love
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypses (spl?)
Radiohead - Kid A
The Beatles - Revolver
The Beatles - Abbey Road
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
The Beatles - Yellow Sumbarine Soundtrack, and the movie itself

As far as electronica is concerned, these are some artists I reccomend:

The Orb, Underworld, DJ Shadow (might be too crazy for the uninitiated), Propellerheads, etc.

Have Fun!

to me, any music (except for death metal, or (c)Rap which i dont really consider music) is cool on shrooms, even music i dont normally listen too, i find myself getting into while i trip.....but nothing beats FLOYD, nothing.......not not even close...

Try anything by Lemon Jelly, especially the track "His Majesty King Raam", absolutely beautiful music!  Osymyso is worth hunting out as well, and the latest Cornelius album "Point" is absolutely outstanding.  If you want some old-skool stuff then try Harry Nilssons "The Point", a classic, and the narrative should be fun on shrooms

Lately I have been listening to The Strokes while tripping. It makes me feel like I am in the past somehow.

Speaking of The Strokes, why not check out one of the groups they ripped off in a major way, The Velvet Underground! The Banana Album would be fab on shrooms (think the proper title is "The Velvet Underground And Nico")

Also try anythign by Amon Tobin, and if you want a good laugh then look for an album called Blue Jam by a chap called Chris Morris!

I would suggest dipping into Frank Zappa's instrumental music. Most people don't understand how brilliant his music really is. . . but that's just because they're not HEARING it. The "Hot Rats" is a good pick but if you want a really bizarre trip to someplace you've never been try "Francesco Zappa" or "Jazz From Hell" which were both performed on Synclavier. Or, if you want a rock-solid, all around good investment of your CD dollar go buy "Lather." Trippy instrumentals "Ocean is the Ultimate Solution" and "Regyptian Strut" and songs that will make you piss yourself laughing like "Titties n Beer" and "Illinois Enema Bandit"

Of course, I love Zappa, but we've all got our problems. . .
