Oups, forgot about that!! well, everybody, register there!! Here is the post: Topic: Salvia splendens extraction: it worked!! psylo33o Calaquendi Member # 1685
Member Rated: posted September 08, 2002 12:00 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well well well! I did a salvia splendens extraction withabout 70 leaves, using 91% alcohol (have a look in the previous post about it..) and so I ended up with some green oil with a strong odor. to this was added 10 leaves of salvia splendens and tobacco. The result was a somewhat oily mix, with that strong smell.. So last night I took my small pocket pipe, and smoked about two bowl.. I took big hits, but took my time between the hits.. after about the 2nd hit, I definitly felt a relaxing effect. I could hear all the nature noises very well, and felt in symbiosis with Nature.. I continued to smoke, and there was a rush of pleasure going through my body.. the same "shaking effect"as when I smoked a little dose of salvia divinorum accured, but was much lighter and didn't last long.. I then went inside, and definitly felt a very profound relaxation... I wanted to lie down, that's what I did, and it was very appreciable.. a little meditation resulted into a trip into my mind, nothing to do with mushrooms or others, but just a calm exploration.. I was very relaxed for another two hours or so, feeling GOOOOD... Very nice and positive experience, the first real effects of salvia splendens I discovered... I am definitly going to do more extractions, it is really worth it.. Well, that's it!! Salvia splendens is definitly active, even though its effects are not as the salvia divinorum ones..

I'm not usually one for such extraction processes, but you may have inspired me to try it out, just this once.
And while it seems that s. splendens extract is not at all like s. divinorum extract, the effects you reported are very similar to reports I have be given on divinorum in quid form. But then, maybe I just hang out with weird people. I certainly wouldn't maintain that they are substitutes for one another, though. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posts: 53 | From: NE US | Registered: Jun 2002 psylo33o Calaquendi Member # 1685
Member Rated: posted September 09, 2002 12:47 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oups, I did it again!! yeah last night, I gave it another try.. A medium bowl using a home maid bong.. and this time, it was VERY close to the salvia D. experience I had, with that shaking and stuff!! didn't last very long though.. perhaps there's a tolerance with the active stuff, which makes you have less efects when you smoke in a short period after another trip...

Member Rated: posted September 09, 2002 02:21 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm, don't know if there's a tolerance/time issue with s. splendens. As for the short duration, I can see that. If you have any imaginary fresh leaves left, you might want to try a quid of 8-12 leaves, chewing it around for about 20 minutes or so prior to your next smoking attempt. I've read grafitti on the restroom stall of life that this is helpful in extending the effect of smoked s. divinorum extract, and you seem to be in a "breaking new ground" mode. Might work, might not. If nothing else you get to experience the rapturous joys of the taste of the splendens leaf. (Where is that snarkish sarcasm smiley?) _I didn't put everything in, and for the updates and stuff, REGISTER!! The salvia forum is good, I really apreciate the moderator, real cool guy

Well, the very first try was made using 8 small salvia splendens leaves, with the oil, and the result was much too oily to be smoked... And, franckly, with the smell it has, I wouldn't bee too tuned up with keeping it in the mouth.. the fresh leaves are fine for quids..

I'm just a big believer in the placebo effect. I get "high" from tobacco, so trying to differentiate the possible, slight effects of something placed on tobacco and smoked probably isn't the best way to go. Maybe try putting it on parsley or something else inactive?
Regarding Saliva Splendens activity, from http://sagewisdom.org/interview.html (interview with Daniel Seibert):
"It is clear that this herb produces effects in many people when they know that they are taking it. The fact that many people are convinced of its effects is compelling. The problem is that the activity seems to disappear when people don't know what it is they are taking. The information available suggests that the effects people have been reporting are probably due to psychosomatic factors rather than a true pharmacological action of the herb; however, I don't mean to suggest that this small study in any way closes the book on the pharmacology of Salvia splendens. Further research may very well identify some sort of activity that was not observed in this particular experiment."

Man, I also get somethinmes high on tobacco. Bu this isn't the effects. Also, one of my friends tried it, and had no idea at all of what was salvia. I didn't tell him the effects it would have. Just told him "discover". and he had exactly the same effects as mine. He has never done anything more then alcohol and cannabis. i'm real sure S.Splendens is active. Last night Iw asn't well at all, I someked some to get releaxed, and all i had was a severe headache and some nausea.

i admire your scientific spirit but i've played a lot with s. splendens years ago and only when tried s. divinorum i realized what a waste of time, effort and lungs my s. splendens experiments were... everybody knows salvinorin are very potent molecules and there sure is the _possibility_ to be some interesting ingredients in s. splendens but the phytochemical makeup of this plant makes it really hard for the home self assayer to tell anything for sure... keep your scientific spirit, just be careful with the plants you're playing with... (and get some real s. divinorum for your garden!!!)

Don't worry, Sally 's at home too If feel S.Splendens being a nice relaxant, worth a hour of very calm music with low lights and a smoke.. But man, when you are in the nature at dusk, surrouded by all the noises from the wind, animal, and just captured by the global atmosphere, and with the splendid salvia, this really goes far. Not a brain shaking psycheldelic rollercoster or stuff, but so appreciable....

Interesting to note that only splendin and one other compound were pulled up on a search when using the pharmacophore for Salvinorin-A.
It lends weight to the hallucinogenic properties of Splendin.
(From the article in this month's PNAS)
