goin to a cave

If it's not pouring out, my 2 friends and I are going on a little hike.We are hiking to this cave, then going exploring. Ive never been in a cave before, sounds exciting. Lots of bats too! Anyone ever been spelunking before?

I've gone many times. Caving is great! :laugh: Make sure y'all have at least two flashlights apiece.

just got back... So it wasnt a cave, more like tunnels. It was under a bridge. Had fun lots of fun, saw at least 10 shooting stars while we were chilling on this bridge.

I used to go caving a lot back in college, but there aren't a lot of caves in this area of the world.  I was on the mine/cave rescue team for five years, but only had one rescue during that time; leave it to Army guys to be completely unprepared, making mistake after mistake when it comes to getting stuck in a cave.  Four people (two Army guys and their girlfriends), one flashlight, one cave, two kilometers back, a 20m deep pit, and one broken leg (on the girl they tried to lower down into the pit (using their belts as rope) to retrieve their only flashlight... which they they had accidentally dropped)... no food, no water, no hardhats, and they didn't tell anybody what they were doing or where they were going because the cave was on private property.

What was really amazing is how far back they made it with only one flashlight (and no hardhats!).  The cave they were in was not an easy cave.  There was one way in and out, with no major forks, so no chance of getting lost, but that was the only nice thing about it.  There was a 100m water crawl, maybe half a meter tall, filled about half way with running water.  There were two places where the cave 'dead ended' unless you knew the trick of where to look for a tiny hole needed to proceed.  There was a pretty decent climb, maybe 8m tall, right before the pits, etc.
