Step up to casing?

I found this telegram on the ground that read:
Hello all.
I've been lurking around in the shadows here since December or so (never reading advanced stuff, just completely familiar with the PF tek and looked at mycoporn), then quickly started a PF operation with 12 jars. I overdried the substrates the first time in incubation but my second attempt was a success my friends and I reaped hours of fun from. Basic PF Tek- standard 10 gallon aquarium deal, but used perlite instead of misting any other way. I am starting my third operation real soon (and am choosing this time to microwave jars by the way). My question is am I ready to try casing? Should I read up and go for it or just stick with the basics for a while? I've upped my operation about 5 fold this time around however..
Thanks

I don't recommend an all or nothing approach. Diversify your risks. In other words, case a few and fruit a few the normal way. This way, if you screw up a tray, you're not down and out.

Ever hear of a PC ? A PC, bulk spawn, substrates & casing -- go hand in hand.

hey buddy,
i would give casings a try. read as much as you can, but remeber one thing. keep it simple. once you get the hang of that then move on to harder thing.
with out taking risks you will never get better. find out what works for you and go crazy. trying new thing make this hobby so fun. the end results are good too.
best of luck.

Casings are easy. I did them for my first time and got one good flush, but then I got green mold. I believe it was from over misting the casings. I would spray them like 3 or 4 times a day which was pretty stupid. I suggest sterilizing your casing material just to be on the safe side. Everytime I didnt do that I got green mold but when I finally got a pc and sterilized the casing material, it did fine. I also dont suggest microwaving jars. You would probally be better off boiling them if you dont have a pc. Good luck, try a couple of casings so that you wont waste all your jars on one if it gets contaminated.
