Actually it makes sense.
Its easier to get soldiers to fight like fanatics as long as they believe their god is on their side.  Its easier to keep them from becoming hopeless, or questioning what the point of what they're doing is.
But, that's not what the US armed forces is supposed to be about.

I doubt this is a huge issue in the army for atheists, probably pretty isolated. I've read a lot of books written by soldiers in Iraq, for instance "My War: Killing Time in Iraq" by Colby Buzzel is an excellent one, and if anything it seems to me like most soldiers are apathetic about that sort of thing. Of course, I wasn't there myself, so I could be wrong. :shrug:

That lawsuit won't fly anywhere.

Why? The same reason the military doesn't get sued by more homo's because of it's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Just another chump trying to get rich for nothing.

When I was in the Navy our ship's chaplain would get on the 1MC and pray every night when we were in the Mediterranean. If people didn't like it they could put earplugs in. Everyone wants to bitch and moan about every single little thing these days.

In case you guys haven't figured it out yet, everyone gets discriminated against for something or another. White, Black, Brown... gay, straight, both..... rich, poor..... Athiest, Christian, Islamic.... that is the way of the world.

I knew people that were Athiest, Wiccan, and just about everything else in the Navy. In the military, we pick on eachother. How do you think we passed time? Everyone talks shit about eachother. It doesn't matter if you are perfect, someone will come up with something that they can use against you. This guy is just a pussy.

Anyone who has been in the military knows what I'm talking about. If you can talk shit, and take it, you won't be able to deal with it.

Hell, I used to call my chief Stonehenge, because his teeth were so fucked up. That's just the way it is. Some people were under their mama's wing to long and can't take it I guess.

There are a lot of people who don't get promoted. Do you know how many shitbags join the military because they can go to work, and sit there with their thumbs up their butt, and they don't have to worry about getting fired? This won't fly anywhere. It's his word against everyone elses'.

I seriously doubt that someone would not get promoted in the military because of his religion. There are a million reasons for people to *not* be put in a position where others' lives are in their hands.

And if the guy is just downright not a leader, well, not much you can do. Some people can inspire others to lay down on the train tracks, other people couldn't convince you to try a new restaurant out much less run through an open area with people shooting at ya.

The military has become one big Christian regime.

That's exactly what the military wants though, people who listen, take things for what they are and are willing to die cause they know that "jesus" will bless them and the "Holy Spirit" is in them.

Good point. Why would we want some asshole running around saying "When you die, you die, there is no heaven" when people are getting shot at and blown up every day.

Jesus Christ, what the hell is with people in the pub making something out of nothing? There isn't some shadowy Christian subculture in the military. Hell, I've known six or seven people who've come back from Iraq, and they definitely aren't some Christian brainwashed holy warrior. All they ever talk about is how fucked up the country was, the girlie pics they hung in their living spaces, and how they got pirated movies way before they came out. 

You people need to get out more. The military exists because it has to, it's not the fucking Freemasons.

Maybe so when everyone in front of you is getting blown up, you will think "Maybe there is a heaven, I won't just lay here on the ground in a thoughtless state with my fucking head blown off after I die". Who knows?


Isn't it more logical to think that death would be easier to accept if you thought you were going to heaven?

On another note, do you think those Taliban fucks would be killing themselves so they could blow others up if they didn't believe they were going to be surrounded by hot babes in the after life?
