Inconspicuous poppy lancing

Could someone cut the pods by pricking in 10 places by a pin instead of three vertical cuts to hide the fact that the pods been milked?

I've tried it, but it doesn't work very well, when you use a pin to prick them it usually goes to deep and the little milk which would come out, moves into the pod.

I usually score the pods with a razor with the protecting strip removed, (very easy to use as it it can only cut at about .75-1.0mm) and then collect the wet sap in a wine bottle cap or something similar. That way the opium won't dry on the pods and show up as much as if you left it. It's not as good as leaving it to dry, but I am using other people poppies and the continuous rain in England would wash the opium away to an extent.
