From left to right. Psilocybe semilanceata (liberty caps), Psilocybe subfimentaria (or P. sierre), Psilocybe azurescens.

The P. subfimentaria is somewhat problematic for me. Spore size and habitat say subfimentaria (sierre), its appearance is somewhat like P. fimentaria and it also looks like somewhat like P. stuntzii.

For a full page devoted to this mushroom, go to the link below. It details the origin, cultivation parameters, substrate, etc.

Hey Workman, tweenty dollars says that your libery caps are actually Psilocybe strictipes (P. callosa).

I also found P. fimetaria in lawns and woodchips last week and P. sierrae and P. stunzii in a lawn.

I still have a few pics left in the camera so I will wait awhile before posting them for you and all to marvel at the wonders of spring fruitings.

Also remember I can get the taxonomic particulars of all shrooms done for you if you really need to verify their identity.

John

P.S. Nice Picture. I'm jealous

Temperatures have been in the low to mid 60's F with plenty of rain. It seemed to be a bit warm for a Spring fruiting to me.

The berries are Salmon berries (Rubus spectabilis). A terrible native weed forming thick prickly perrenial canes that can get almost to tree proportions. The young sprouts and berries are edible. They are the very first berries of the season but are quite soft, watery and sweetly insipid. They are not really suited for anything other than a trailside nibble, but kids love them. There are two color forms, an orange (pictured) and a brilliant red. The orange ones taste slightly better. The pictured orange berry is not quite ripe, they get larger and brighter as they mature. The kids keep them cleanly cropped so that was the best I could find.

Amanita: want seeds, hehehehe  . I am pretty sure they would do very nicely in Scotland. It would offset the invasive Scotch Broom and Gorse that is overrunning several counties on the Oregon coast.

Wow, that is a gorgeous photo!

I wish you'd put a hi-rez version on your website.

What kind of film was used? Was it one of the new high saturated types?

Thanks for posting it!

The picture was taken with a DC120 Kodak camera. Its an older model but it works fine on subjects around that size. The macro feature is cumbersome and difficult to keep things in focus.

I can email the bitmap version of that picture or any of the others stored in my picture storage area linked on my homepage. They are about 3 MB each and far too large to load to the shroomery server.

were those wild, or did you cultivate those, just wondering if I need to go to astoria this weekend? do you know that there are two different forms of azures in astoria? one kind looks like yours, but the other grows right along the river in this park, and they are goldeny carmel with much thinner stems. when they get old, though they turn brown and get sin wavey caps but caps are 2" wide at least with very thin, 1/4'' stems that dont bruise very blue, but still pack a punch.
