volunteering

So i've found myself with lots of time on my hands...so am thinking how to fill it so that I dont (like I've for the last two weeks) Blaze constantly. Am thinking about maybe doing some volunteer work at this local organisation that seems pretty cool. It'd be quite nice to make some new friends as well.

Does anyone here do any volunteer work? what sort of stuff do you do and why? Did you make some good buddies there? Doesn't necessarily have to be the sort of volunteer work where you fly half way round the world!

Have to admit the main hurdle i've got it actually building up the courage to turn up to it one night (yes i know - ghey!)!!:heart:

I'm helping currently to rebuild a burnt house for a man that's
mentally handicapped, he's been living in a shed in his back
yard for 6 months, it's about 20 of us providing labor and
materials for the project

Volunteering is a real nice thing to do...
Its been along time since I have done anything...
some time in 04 I volunteered at a soup kitchen here in Norcal.. It made me feel pretty good

I am going to school in september, I will be volunteering at the student garden, growing good food for everyone that wants it, ill be at habitat for humanity one weekend a month, building houses for those less fortunate, and doing some work for the blood donor clinics.

My whole thing is that this all takes very little time out of my month relatively speaking, but still helps people ALOT.

Volunteer at an animal shelter.

Dogs are fucking amazingly happy to get a little attention. I go over there as often as I can and just take a bunch of them for walks and throw a frisbee for them, etc.

They're in a cage all day and night, but when you get a chance to let them out and play for a little while it's :awesome:

that's a really great idea! as 'ghey' as it sounds, I bet it's awesome watching those dogs run around all happy, excited!
