uTorrent question
    #8569262 -

is there any way to have uTorrent going without slowing down your internet connection? my housemates like to download stuff in the evening and through the night, but it gets really annoying because it slows down even web-surfing, let alone games, or other high bandwidth stuff.

is there some option in uTorrent that can keep the whole server from bogging down?

You can cap uTorrent's maximum upload and download speeds (just right click on the green u).  This has to be done from the computer that is using it though, so roommates have to agree.

Or you can use a fancy router that will choke their bandwidth.

Not to familiar with uTorrent I use Vuze, but there should be some settings to limit your upload and download speed.  You don't want too many torrents downloading at once either.  And the max number of connections can be tweaked; I still haven't got all my settings perfect takes a lot of tweaking.
