    #8562015 -

Oh yes, oh yes

Avocado is always so good.

What's for lunch today?

that sounds so effin good.

On like a fociata bread? mmmm. I may have to make one. I'm finna go to walmart anyway... I'll stop by the grocery store and pick up some ingredients. except the bread I'll have to get from the evil Panera. They have a good fociata. I think I'm spelling that right. I dunno.

But yeah, I've been using avocados on sandwiches for a while now... They have that creamy, rich texture of mayonnaise,  but are actually healthy for you. :awesome:

Mmmm...yummy.  I like my A & T sandwich on toasted Ezekiel bread with romaine lettuce, thin-sliced red onion & Yumm sauce.  Of course this is ultra-delicious when the T is a beefsteak grown in my own garden, picked minutes before slicing & still warm from the sun.

Damn that sounds soooo good. I went to the farmers market and bought local grown tomatoes but they still weren't fully vine ripened. I am a gardener and very particular with tomatoes. I won't have any tomatoes of my own worth eating until minimum July 4th but probably more like the second week of July. Until then, the shitty tomatoes sit on my kitchen window ledge ripening until I think they are worthy of eating. I swear to god every time I buy tomatoes out of season I am severely disappointed.

i used to hate tomatoes but now i eat them like apples.  i like to slice them and sprinkle with coarse salt and blue cheese.

Also tasty: sliced tomato with buffalo mozzarella, basil, sliced red onion, and balsamic vinaigrette drizzled over the top.
Serve it like a salad.

I didn't know what Yumm sauce was so I looked it up.  Is this what you're talking about?

Quote:
Original Yumm Sauce:
1/2 cup oil (I used a canola oil)
1/2 cup almonds
1/3 cup brewers yeast (the grocery store didn't carry brewers yeast specifically but assured me that fast acting yeast would be a good substitute. It seems to have worked).
1/3 cup garbonzo beans - drained (I used closer to 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup soybeans (again, the store didn't carry soybeans so I used a silken tofu and used approx. 1/2 cup. This seems to have worked.)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp curry powder

Sounds like a winner :yesnod:

That sounds like an approximation of the recipe.  I think that the Yumm Sauce in the store has parsley and black pepper, but no curry powder.  I've made a fairly close version at home, but could not achieve the smooth, emulsified texture of the original.

I will corner the Yumm sauce market in my region

I'm going to try a batch using garbanzo and soy flours rather than cooked beans.  I think that the smooth texture is impossible when you use the beans.

I just tried the Chipotle version...:drooling:

I think I'll try emulsifying it the way mayonnaise is prepared (adding a steady stream to the mix while food processor is running).  I'll let you know my results.

Currently I am eating I smoked turkey sandwich with red onion and my garden leaf lettuce with mayo and mustard on whole Indian grain bread. And i'm eating a delicious Georgia peach with it. Nothing fancy but it's all I have. I'd prefer totally vegetarian but I don't have enough ripe vegetable to make a wholesome sandwich....So I am stuck eating the glorified vulture.

Totally off topic but when did you become a mod? I've been absent from the shroomery for a while.
