Healthy foods don't fill me up - suggestions?

Disclaimer: Yes, i realize the title "healthy foods" is a broad generalization - especially since I have only eaten oranges and bananas at work, but i figured it would get the right people in here to help me out.
Welp- Recently I have been dissatisfied with my midsection. I'm by no means overweight, fat, large, or any of the above terms - but my stomach/obliques tend to gather pudge before the rest of my body, and, being the scrawny kid that I am, it looks unproportionate.
It's no surprise, i've been interning in DC from 9-5, coming home - grabbing a frozen pizza (or something equally unhealthy) and then going to class from 6-9, coming home - grabbing another unhealthy snack, and then going to bed.
Well, I have taken to avoiding my unhealthy sandwitch at lunch ("The Wreck": roast beef, ham, salomi, bacon, swiss - absolutely delicious) from the sandwitch shop "Potbellys" (go figure)... and have instead been buying fruit from the vendor on the street on my way in to work.
I usually get an orange and a few bananas - seeing as i HATE apples.
However, this NEVER fills me up - and i usually end up supplementing my lunch with something horribly unproductive.
So - what should I be eating in conjunction with my oranges/bananas that will actually make me full - at least enough to get me through the work day.
---------------- Also - i've been doing mediocre weightlifting (just maintaining body shape, i can't really gain mass) and running ~1mi+ daily... So the exercise part of losing the midsection is there, i just need the dietary aspect to help me get through the day without impulse munching to fulfill my hunger.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Your fruit isn't filling you up because you are not eating near enough of it. You have to eat somewhere along the lines of 12 oranges to equal just one grilled cheese sandwich.
Eat more fruit, or supplement with fats, like almonds or walnuts.

Eat steak, spinach, avocados, almonds, flax, and anything else unprocessed, then eat more. Eventually you'll get full.

mmmmm i had forgotten all about nuts. almonds are my favorite thing EVER.
I'll start doubling my fruit lunch and add almonds/mixed nuts to the meal... hopefully that'll do the trick.
are the 'fats' in almonds as detrimental as the 'fats' in my delicious lunchmeat sandwitch?

almond fat is GOOD...so is avocado fat...even saturated fats can be healthy IF you exercise.

Steaks, fatty fish, roast chicken with skin on, and pork will fill you up. Oh, and flaxmeal.

I used to crack open mature coconut, scoop out the meat, and dehydrate it as a snack for later. Soooo good. Young thai coconut is amazingly yummy fresh too. I love that coco water.

Its good stuff. I like to cook it up nice and fluffy (using slightly more water than recommended) and season it with gomasio (ground sesame seeds and sea salt) and chopped nori seaweed.
1/2 cup dry rice, and 1 1/4 cups water, simmered for 45 minutes, is usually enough to fill me up.

True, I had three organic Thai coconuts yesterday. The water was sooooo good.
I also love to munch mature coconut. It's filling.

i like the recommendations, but sadly I despisecoconut.
Also - any food with lengthy preperation is out of the question, since all this will be done @ the office.

I've been using extra-firm tofu as the main protein in my meals recently. I don't really buy meat anymore other than fish. I'm always amazed at how filling the tofu can be. I usually chop it into small pieces and fry it lightly with garlic then add it to pasta, rice, or quinoa. I make a dish like that for dinner with intentional leftovers I can take to work and reheat. I always have greens with my meals, usually baby spinach with some nuts and chopped fresh ginger (I cannot recommend fresh ginger enough! It's dirt cheap and goes with so many things) and oil-and-vinegar type dressing. An apple or banana with it, sometimes.
I make sure I eat nuts every day. Pistachios, walnuts or almonds.

Check out the book download in this thread. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8530929/an/0/page/0 It might agree with you if your problem is lack of satiety, but you wan to lose weight.

Your stomach "pudge" may have more to do with lifestyle stressors than diet:
http://www.biohealthinfo.com/html/resources/articles/article_archive/fatbelly.html
I'd recommend relaxation exercises and a low-glycemic diet to reduce excess abdominal fat.
