Giant White Mushroom (Agaricus arvensis????) New pics

Found these while hunting in a large field near the coast in Seattle. There were MANY of these out there and some were simply huge. I mean there were un-opened caps the size of softballs. Most had been nibbled on by rabbits. Even caught one in the act.
Is this anything worth cloning?

Rabbits eating them is interesting.
They are an agaricus, look like Agaricus arvensis, though the caps are little shaggier then I remember arvensis to be. Maybe something closely related. Arvensis have a slighty almondy smell.

Thanks, I was suspecting the genus Agaricus but as you said the shagginess makes it seem odd. I forgot to note that if you scratch a piece of the tissue it turns yellow. A definite sign of the genus Agaricus.
The matchmaker site for PNW mushrooms gave me 2 ID's.
Agaricus xanthoderma and Agaricus campestris but I think Agaricus arvensis seems a better fit.

Yeah, that's much too large for A. campestris. It doesn't really resemble A. xanthodermis either.
Since it bruises yellow, you also need to note the odor. Typically the odor is strongest where the cap and stem join. If you can't detect any particular odor, try crushing the stem base and sniffing there.
Agaricus is a difficult genus, so don't be surprised if you have trouble making an ID.
Happy mushrooming!

I went ahead and smelled the mushroom after cutting the stem. Smells kinda like oyster mushrooms, that same anise smell.

Maybe I'm nuts, but are you guys sure the two pictures are of the same mushroom? That white one does not look like an Agaricus, but rather an Amanita. Look at the concentric rings at the base, the overall fuzziness.

It does appear that the older ones have rings at the base as well.Looking at the pin I'd think it was an Amanita.Still you might be right.

I'll be going back this morning to photograph some more and pick the largest specimen I can find for cloning.
The pics are of the same type of mushroom. The new pics will show that I hope.
I still believe it is Agaricus arvensis, the Horse Mushroom.

Well here's the new photos. Unfortunately my camera's batteries were dead and I didn't get any in-situ photos but a friend did. I'll post those once he emails them to me.
Here's the new better pics.
The big one!!
There was actually a bigger one, ALOT bigger but it had alot of slug damage and was a little moldy on the cap so I cut off a big chunk of its stem for possible cloning.
The gill shots of young and slightly maturing to show the gill's color change. Also note the tubes on the cut stem.
The last pic of the veils and stems.

As long as there's no reddish colored bruising visible, then i'd say they were Horse Mushrooms.

It's yellow bruising you want to be afraid of in Agaricus though. It can take significant trauma and a bit of time before the yellow stainers will show their stain. Also, the toxic ones don't smell all nice like the edibles, though I'm not sure how broadly that applies.
Pretty mushrooms though. I lump Agaricus into three categories: Edible, Toxic, Maggot-infested. I only go all the way to species if I'm feeling especially nerdy.
Edit: I should mention that arvensis will stain yellow a bit, but they smell lovely. Also, I agree that you have arvensis after looking at that first pic that I thought looked like an Amanita or Chlorophyllum. Great find!
