how long have you gone without eating?

i was thinking if i dont eat for 4 days with an average intake for me of 2500 kcal/day i should loose almost 3 pounds. (3500kcal/1lb)

How would this feel. What would i experiance?

ive gone a week without a meal hiking. Normally we catch our food but they wernt biting so i live off 4 pop tarts and 2 oz. of beef jerky along with kool aid powder for 6 days. I also ate a couple handfulls of wild berries.

this was rough, with headaches and diahreah setting in by day 5. Hence the four day idea. What do ya'll think?


by the way, im a healthy male 5' 9" and 198 lbs. I play lots of sports and work out 3 + x's a week.

After a few days and before a week or so, I think you'd feel relatively OK (as long as you're drinking plenty of water). It's amazing how long the average person can survive on water alone - something like seven or eight weeks, if I'm not mistaken.

If you want to lose weight, though, this is definitely not a good option. Fasting will slow your metabolism and the weight you lose will be mostly water anyways, so you'll immediately gain it back and have to work extra hard to maintain/lose the weight again.

I've gone without a single bite of food for a few days, a handful of times because of various illnesses and injuries.

The first day sucks. The second is all hunger pains. After that you can manage it. At some point you might even not want to eat, it's an odd feeling. You'll be really fucking lethargic. Standing up too fast you'll get dissy, just leaving the house is physically/mentally draining,etc. Dont eat a huge meal after you starve, you'll feel pretty sick.

I dont really need to loose weight, i just want my muscles to stick out more for a bit, by dropping that layer of water/fat between the skin and muscle. And I'm curious about a little self torture i guess.

You can tell, i hope, by my first post that i am "in shape" I'm just playing around with my physique. I think its amazing how you can change your structure.

a week or so...after the 2nd or 3d day its no longer a problem...but its not going to help you loose weight or tone you muscles. on the contrary, metabolism slows down, and you body will 'eat' your muscles as well as your fat reserves.

its pretty cool experience...if you really want to go hardcore combine it with sleep deprivation. thats not a suggestion though. its exhausting and possibly bad for you. if you do it, drink A LOT of water and oj.

I've fasted for a month at the longest and many times for a week or so.

My fasts were water only fasts, I didn't weigh myself before and after so I can't help you there.

not eating is about the most stupid way to LOSE FAT that you can do.

do you really think because you dont eat anything your body will start to burn your fat to maintain energy ?
lol, itll first deplete your glycogene stores and then start burning up what causes
the most energy consumption which is, can you guess it? MUSCLE !

cuz it senses a state of prolonged hunger therefor regulates its metabolism down by ripping apart your
excess muscle and reusing it for energy and protein.

so have fun not eating stuff and losing muscle.

Now that is the way to go, I hate it when people call juice "fasts" fasts. Bullshit if you ask me.

I tried 3 days once but I got the flu after the first day and my gf and mom asked me to stop it, it was too dangerous so I did... A very interesting experience to be sleep deprived, fasting and having a temperature at the same time. I ended up hallucinating.

3 days is longest ive gone.. when i was getting hungry on day two i spent most of it filling up on water..

i fast for 5 days every year to remember an event in my life
