Psilocybe coprophila Finally PICS! * 1
    #8340239 -

So today picked about a thousand of these seriously will post pics tomorrow very pretty mushroom. I just wish they were active! Some of them are blue and very strong too at the base of the stem traveling halfway up the stem very interesting for this species. Notice undulation cap margins as well as dark bluing at the base of the stems.

Psilocybe coprophila is an active mushroom, they just have miniscule amounts of psychoactive compounds in em so theyre not really considered hallucinogenic.
These dont really blue though
Post some pics:thumbup:

SO if his specimins are blue then maybe he has a more potent variety. If so you should totally try and spawn thsese

What is your source for that information? I have heard the opposite, that people have eaten large amounts of P. coprophilia with no effects.

According to Moncalvo et al 2002, Psilocybe coprophilia is in clade 113 along with all the other non-actives such as P. montana and while all the psychoactive members are in clade 106. See pages 369, 379 and 380.

I don't think there are any potent varieties of P. coprophilia, if they are bluing and they are in Psilocybe then he probably has a psychoactive species.

What was the substrate for these?

What Alan said. Coprophila isn't active. Probably a different species.

No theres only one species of Psilocybe coprophila and it is active. The only reason its not classed as one is because they wont even kill a todler Lol

psilocybe coprophila is as the name indicate a dung lover ,and the most characteristic feature along other thing is the straig gill (horizontal) if you know what i mean , also some look alike as PS Argentina, merdaria there is also sub-cropophila etc. but psilocybe coprophila belong to the section coprophilae, and all they grow on dung and have the characteristic of no bruising blue , so the spore print is purple brown , grown on dung have s slight seudo ring in the stem gill horizontal attach to the stem sub decurren sometimes, and also this mushrooms are small in comparison to copelandia and of course cubensis,,

I don't think they are active at all. As far as I know there was only one analysis done that showed any activity (by Repke and Leslie) and they may have used a mixed collection. This is according to the Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World entry for P. coprophilia. Paul Stamets says in no uncertain terms that this mushroom is not active, but he also says that the mycelium may bruise blue and there may be active strains.

I would guess that any active strain is something else, an important find.

I bet Weiliiiii has a different species of mushroom if they're bruising blue. A few years ago me and a friend ate hundreds of coprophilas with absolutely no affect. I don't think they contain any psilocybin. I remember reading somewhere that something like Panaeolus subbalteatus got mixed in with a collection of Psilocybe coprophila that was being tested for psilocybin and that is why there are still descriptions of coprophila containing psilocybin.

Yes you may well be right but just as much so wrong. The only actual way to know for yourself is to do tests on the mushroom, but really who can be fucked  Paul Stamets is a gun though and i probably would believe him over some random source

sorry just got back on here i have pics but got to go to CVS to make a pic cd to upload pics but i do have them im not one to bullshit mushrooms are very sacred/important to me. Do Ps. Cop have undulating cap margins. Also the stipe starts small at the base and get huge where it meets the cap as well as the fully mature specimens look uplifted and umbonate is this normal. Im using Paul Staments Psilos of the world for ID but cant find much about how the mature caps are. I think it might be a mixed collection because sum were in horse dung others in disturbed clay soil i was actually looking for weiliis at the time in a horse pasture where i have found them before lots of disturbed soil in the pasture and yes i have found weilii here.
