Warrior VS Warlike
    #8336838 -

What causes unnecessary (IMO) violence?

I am proposing a complex issue here with, most likely several facets.

What makes a survivor? If we were to become totally unwarlike would we lose our survival edge?

Does this have anything to do with following others or leading oneself?

Anything to do with allegiance to a country or being a country unto yourself?

I find the idea of being a warrior helpful in living. Yet I find the idea of fighting others abhorrent unless necessary for personal survival or survival of close friends.

Why has being a warrior gotten such a bad rep?

It has a bad association in our society because our society wants the men to be emasculated and subservient. Women have already been socialized (domesticated like animals by men) to be subservient, and now men are having the aggressive nature and it's expression discouraged by society in order to create mindless automatons that serve the leadership. Aggression is only encouraged if it is used to kill the enemies of our leaders. Then the individuals that act on this are discarded by the society afterwards. Our society doesn't want male or female warriors of any sort. Warriors seek freedom and a free human is a threat...so warrior is made to equal violence and wrong doing. This isn't 100% accurate, but I am trying to get my point across.

Edit:
By the way, unnecessary violence is caused by the suppression I discussed in my response.

This is the key element, IMO. Some who claim to be warriors are actually bullies, sadists and/or power-mongers. These so-called warriors engage in fighting and destruction when it is essentially unnecessary.

A true warrior fights their primary battle with themself, and only joins an external battlefield when survival and/or freedom are at stake.

Two great posts.

The true warrior fights the battle with themselves. How true. A dying breed IMO and the main reason why I can't go along with those proclaiming we are on the brink of a true human revolution. Sadly, in my observation, the opposite is the truth.

Still, not a reason for ultimate dispair as what is true for most need not be your truth.

I was thinking about this same topic last week. I got pissed off at the warrior within blaming it for all of the trouble in the world, or at least the pains in the ass of my life's experiences.

I wanted to wage war on my inner warrior and kill it!!!

The inner warrior goes around looking for injustice, looking to right wrongs, basically finding trouble and itself in the muck of life and all for what? Ego bullshit or a "sense of purpose"?

Even if the inner warrior is only seen as a tool for self development, he/she will always be looking for something not 'right' within the other aspects of the self that needs to be 'righted" 'protected" or 'saved".

Why not just pronounce yourself right and okay as you are, the world right and okay as it is and send that foolish, trouble making, ego maniac into retirement?

I think you are talking about the critic within. A warrior always accepts what is and does not judge the self as right or wrong. The ego is not the warrior, IMO the warrior is close to what some call spirit.

The spirit is what some call.... spirit. What I call the spirit is just the breath of eternal life to me.

The warrior is the aspect to me that fights injustices, defends justice, fights for and defends his/her truth, fights for and defends freedom etc. The warrior to me lives in the duality planes of existence.

The warrior is a brawler who wants to impose it's will of right and wrong upon others.

The inner critic is the inner critic.

My inner critic says embracing my inner warrior always leads me into a " self justified" conflict.

My inner critic decided that my inner warrior was a pain in my ass that unless fully released, would never allow me to leave the experience of duality conflict for good.

Experiencing every state of mind there is to be in, upon reflection, I must say, peace mixed with a sense of humor rocks the most and is where I want to be again.

What use is the inner warrior to me if that is where I want to be.

How can I live in mental and emotional peace if her armor is always clanging around and her war drums are beating off in the distance? She makes a lot racket in there.

Warrior says blah blah looking for any and every reason to go to war-

"Did you see how congress just voted on that one?"

"They charged you $20 for that piece of crap?"

"Why wouldn't she let you go get something to eat when you were hungry?'

"That was a total lie he just told everyone."

Someone shut that fucker up already. She's been killing my buzz and wasting my chill time.

And how can I live in a sense of humor, with her taking her role so damn seriously wanting to straighten all that she sees crooked in this world out?

I see no difference between the warrior and being war like. A warrior is warlike. That's what makes them a warrior.

I personally want my inner warrior set out to pasture once and for all.

Sure a perspective can be taken on with goals where it's use and value can be justified.

I am giving a perspective where based on my current goals, it has none for me.

You want or need to save/free others or yourself from something? Invoke your warrior!

I'd like to experience life having no need or want to save or free myself from a freaking thing any more.

Is it possible to go through life not experiencing anything you do as an act of freeing something from some restraint or saving something from some threat?

Is it possible to go through life, accepting that others need to take responsibility for their lives as I do mine, and in the process of taking responsibility for mine, choose not to see myself as restricted or screwed by it?

There is always a battle for the warrior to fight. What does one do with the warrior when they just want some inner peace and light hearted giggles along the way?

Coming back feels like a breath of fresh air to me. I had been firing up my jets over the past few weeks after having chosen to ground my planes for quite a long and sucky while and decided to treat myself to a high altitude flight here today. Feels good!

I think a great deal of violence is caused by the individuals inability to cope with a lack of control over their environment.

Some times violence is spawned in an effort to maintain or grab control over an environment.

Damn control freaks of the world.
