Weilii
    #833423 - 08/21/02 12:51 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Today I was walking home through a subidivision, and i saw a yard with a large lepiota, so i went to look at it, and i noticed to smaller, immature mushrooms that looked very much like weiliis. So im gonna head back tomorrow to check on them, and ill post some pics.

Eh, don't get your hopes up man... I've thought the same thing before and it turned out to be a Clitocybe sp. mushroom. The caps of lots of mushrooms look like weilii.

If you did find it, show us some pics up in this mofo.

about 80% sure. They where dark brown and looked almost exactly like several picks ive seen of immature weiliis. I have been researching and hunting for weiliis all summer, and these look very promising. The area is a subdivision built about 5 years ago, which is heavy with red clay, many baby sweetgums, and many other characteristics that are common to weiliis habitat. I also observed several areas where the yards met the woods, that had nothing but sweetgums, and heavy mycelial growth. By the way, are the puffballs that grow here worthwhile as an edible when young.
