Screw this season [Re: phishhead]
    #13473723 - 11/12/10 01:08 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

This is my first year trying to find these guys and I have had nothing but a fail year.  I have searched high and low and got 0 results.  Christ Atlanta is probably gonna run out of water while we're at it just to rub it in.

I'm still interested in spores and creating a backyard grow log if anyone has any please PM me.  I'm a grumpy old man winter now.  :oldman:

this year is not nearly as productive as last year. i'm finding maybe 10 0r 15 small ones a week as opposed to last year when i was finding 100-200 a week. i think the lack of rain earlier this summer had already set the tone for the meager finds so far this year. it makes me really thankful for the ones i am finding, which by the way are much smaller than the huge fruiting clusters i was scooping up last fall. i found about 30 small ones today in one of my honey holes but they just aren't getting as mature this year. sounds like we all are having about the same marginal success.....

What up, I was heavy in this thread last fall, my first year hunting weilii.  This year has been not nearly as good; we have only had 2 major rains, and the first one in October happened when it was largely too cold.

In any event, this second rain from last week produced my first weilii of the season, you can see them here: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13518431

Last year was great because that monsoon of late September dumped rain on us for 4 to 5 straight, heavy days!  Glad I found some though, I am trading the prints like mad in the marketplace   GL to those of you who havent found any, I know it is frustrating, but never give up!

I went searching yesterday and hardly found any mushrooms, let alone weilii... I'm hoping after this rain tomorrow we might have some more fruits.

went out this morn. found a few clusters of something. letting a couple of caps sit to print right now. should have the results in a few hours.

decided to post a few pics on here just to hear a little feedback until the print comes in.

found next to a stump, growing out of leaves and a few pine needles.

i'm pretty sure they aren't weilii (shit, could be Galerina). have had no luck this year on actives in GA (have in other states though!).

the first two images were taken right next to the last two. i think the first cluster is a younger version of the more mature and darker second cluster.

went by some spots one more time this season for one last look. Was an epic fail. Lol, don't know what I was thinking or why I thought there would be any there..
just had to look to make sure LOL I did find one small dried up weilii, but I threw him back to nature.

Oh well, maybe we'll have a ballin' spring.
