quick question about weilii cuz i've done tons of research but havent found info if weilii when younger have veils like velutina or not? also i've seen pics of weilii with dark gills and lighter gills so im guessing gills aren't a good identifying factor?

When weilii are younger and their caps have not opened up they have one, not as fuzzy as velutina though and it disappears quick unlike velutina and does not hang down like some velutina veils.

That print is not totally dry yet, when the spores dry out totally on the foil they will have more of a lighter purple color to them, its rather vibrant.

Anybody had any luck these past few days? We've had tons of rain and warm temperatures in cobb but I haven't found any weilii yet for some reason. Maybe its a bit too early still?

they are fruiting but only in small patches of 3-5, give it another week or two since the lookalikes are still fruiting heavily.

Ras is back, and searching for the old Council of Weilli Masters. The Original few, as we were way back before drug-addled, unwise students, manipulated the entheogenic experience of Weilli. Before they were sold like street drugs, consumed like fast food, and abused. Respect your Weilli.
Just posting pics from days of old, These next few weeks will bring a massive, stinky, slimy yield of our local communion.

Just to let you guys know my cousin found probably 4-5g dry in a normal patch area as opposed to a micro habitat. So they're beginning to show up in regular spots now too. Especially after that rain last night, we should start seeing more and more.

I'm really looking to get into searching for weilli more this season. So I should look under loblolly pines in shaded areas, or is that not until later in the season? This is basically addressed to anybody.

Have yet to find one in the "textbook" habitat. More like cultivated areas near woodlands, especially on well decomposed Wood mulch North of Atlanta. The higher the elevation, it seems, the better. Just my Two Cents ;-)

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this or not but I figured it was better than starting a millionth weilii thread.
Ok so me and a few friends are planning a trip to Cherokee county in a couple weeks to go camping and hopefully find some weiliis so my first question is will the grow anywhere near a campsite or do we need to look at residential/business parks before the campground or should we be able to find them there? From all the information I have gathered from this site and others they seem to grow everywhere in the area but some places are better to look than others. I know the best habitat is red soil, Bermuda grass and so on but I figured it would be safer to look out in forest area.
Second question how has the weather been in Georgia for growing? Here in Alabama we have had tons of rain the past few weeks but its starting to dry up here. If anyone that lives in the area could PM me and update me on how the weather has been there that would be awesome so that I don't waste gas driving 3 hours, and the weather channel just isn't accurate as first hand experience.

http://www.shroomery.org/9579/Psilocybe-weilii
It takes 5 days or more after it rains for the really beefy weilii to fruit unless they are under pinestraw, the pine needles hold more moisture so checking business parks and neighborhoods would be your best bet.
Or if your hunting woodland weilii look for areas that have recently been disturbed, and are full of wood debris. Areas in the woods that are good for weilii are areas of red clay soil that have had "paths" cut into them by rain water, look on either side of these "paths" for weilii.
