Ya know all mushrooms came from the outdoors. The question isn't what ones are good for outside, its what ones are good for your area.

Try using a very forgiving strain like B+, or EQ. That way alot of variation in climate and area will not hender your attempts. bluhoney

Flush size is completely uncontrollable by you outdoors, only thing you can do is water it and let karma do the rest. Potency, no strain has higher potency then any others, each patch varies greatly in potency. Ease of growth, well its outdoors.... you dont do anything 
Go by your climate. I dont actually know much about outdoors, sorry!

Tazzies work great outside  (in the upper UPPER midwest...)
But as you said, summer only. They grow REALLY slowly when the temps are below about 70F during the day.....

Treating other people like bitches aint gonna help man. And for what you said above...not too many people grow outdoor, so to assume that they wouldnt grow because no ones done it is kinda bad. You should give whatever you want a shot and document it, there are lots of thigns to be explored still. Be a pioneer.

Alright, ALL strains will work oudoors! None will not grow, or fail or anything. Every single strain will grow and fruit if the weather is good. Now take your location and see what strain originates from the closest location. If you like rather high north then dont choose a strain that originates in the tropics.
PM Moe. Check out a vendor's selection and PM him about the origins of the strain you like.
And like said before, not many people grow outdoors. Not because it wont work or its a bad idea but because its a fairly new consept. Try a strain, they post a thread on how it goes!

Sorry this is wrong - as quoted from Stamets 'Stivje and DeMeijer 1993 found .15%psilocybin and .50% psilocin in a mexican variety (of cubensis) and .15%psilocybin and .33%psilocin in an Amazonian strain.'
I have no doubt that different cubensis spore-races demonstrate not only differing fruiting characteristics, colonisation and mycelia, but also differing alkaloid ratios and potency.
Tassies are great yielders and work well outdoors in colder climates

The reason they dont know Happylefist and are being nasty about it is because they themselves have obviously never grown cubensis outdoors.
In warmer more humid climates id suggest going with a tropical variety of cubensis - colder climates id suggest the tassie. However, dont believe much of what you read about different strains from vendors...

Hey bluemeanie, Tazzies grow just fine here too--great fruiter and very tolerant of neglect 
Growing outside is so simple that I'm surprised that it isn't done more. I sense that my neighborhood might experience an invasion of P. azurescens mycelium somewhere sometime next spring ......
Your best bet is to plant some ornamentals in your patch. Tell everyone that the wood chips or manure are for the plants. Any mushrooms that appear are "magic"
