Too much moisture in cakes, need fix!!!
    #8294976 -

Ok, so I put too much water in my substrate...too much to the point where the mycylium is happy just being mycylium and not tranforming into shrooms to crave the large amounts of microscopic water (humidity) to satisfy it's hunger for moisture. I'm hating it.

Had so far lots of aborts, fat-asses, and maybe 5 popped gill curtain mediocre's out of 12 cakes!!!

I don't know what to do about the problem. I tried putting them into the terranium without rolling them in wet verm to avoid prolonging the moisture,...still no shrooms. After 4 days of single mists a day, constant air exchange, and light bulb to create increased heat to fight the excess moisture...I decided to re-dunk the cakes, and put them back in the terranium.

Status: the cakes are incredibly nutritious, they're really white and healthy looking, they're just not pinning well, and when they do pin the shrooms don't grow to harvest development.

What's the analysis????

The analysis is that the above is a load of bullshit.

Mycelium does not stop pinning because there is lots of water available.

Also, you want MAXIMUM possible humidity with cakes, so you don't want to reduce the humidity in any way, in fact having a low humidity will not allow pinning and cause your existing pins to grow small and or abort.

That lightbulb is a bad idea as anything that heats up the air inside the FC will lower it's relative humidity dramatically.
