Screen between casing and substrate?

Hi,
A friend of mine and myself have started our first grow. We have 2 bags inoculated with PESA spores (supposed to be very potent cubes) and 2 bags inoculated with Copelandia cyanescens spores.

Here's my idea. I don't know if it's been done before, but I think it would work:
1.) Put the colonized bags into casing trays, like usual
2.) Let them colonize for a few days, just until there is frosty growth on top
3.) Once growth is seen, PLACE A SCREEN OR MESH of some kind over top of the substrate
4.) Put a casing layer over top of the screen, and wait for the casing to colonize
5.) Pin out the mycelium

I am hoping that this would make harvesting easier, because I would think you could just pick the shrooms, and they would snap off the screen without taking large chunks out of the mycelium.

Does anyone know if this would work, or possibly have some experience doing something like this?

Any info would be VERY much appreciated.

I don't know how well that would work(or not). Add some gysum and or crushed oyster shell to the casing mix to make them easier to pull out

there's a patent about that method...don't know if it works really...but i don't see why not...
i'd pull the screen after the 2nd flush, and recase with a thinner layer...

this would leave part of the mushroom stalk under the screen. i wouldn't find that desireable. for recasing though possibly.

IME simply misting the casing surface before harvest helps prevent pulling large chunks of casing up. Sometimes you have to read TMC between the lines. Stamets says overly dry casings tend to come up in chunks when harvesting. He didn't follow it through to say "mist before you harvest" like he should have.
