~I don't know timelines off the top of my head but I know some people do let their agar filled dishes sit for a number of days to see if they have picked up any contams.  I think most people just keep the dishes in a clean tupperware box. I don't personally have experience with using these yet. :shineon: ~Pixie~

Yeah, I filled all of my dishes and covered with parafilm. So far so good. But it is my first time.

As long as you worked sterile storing agar isn't a problem.
It's actually good, becauseyou can see weather it's contaminated or not.

You don't have to make a new batch of agar every time.

Make a batch, pour the plates you need and pour the rest in small half pint canning jars baby food jars or whatever.
Leave some space at the top of the jar and make sure the lip is clean

PC the jars with the lids slightly loose (15 min 15 psi) when it's cool enough to open the PC crank the lids down. as the jars cool they will seal.

They will keep for months and months.
just look at the jar once in a while to make sure nothing is growing in it.

I'm still using PDA agar I made well over a year ago.

When you need more plates take off the lid microwave it till liquid again stirring often and pour again....then PC the plates.I drop a teaspoon of agar in the plate and PC them 15 at 15. when the PC is totally cool I take them out and seal them with saran wrap...cheap alternate to parafilm, just cut one inch chunks off a 30 meter roll and use them like tape. use a large chef knife and make a clean cut.
Let the plates sit 4 days or so to make sure they're clean.

I'm such a dink I totally missed the point....
Yes you can store poured agar plates.
The only problem is drying out. Parafilm still allows some gas exchange.
Keep them in a sealed zip lock in the fridge for long term storage like weeks.
don't turn them upside down or store sideways, condensation getting on the lip of the plate can lead contaminants in.
