March contributions- Obama over $40 Mil- Clinton $20 Mil -McCain considering public financing
    #8233155 -

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama raised more than 40 million dollars in March, a stronger showing than rival Hillary Clinton but less than the record 55 million dollars he collected a month earlier,

Sen. John McCain said he would consider accepting limited public financing for the general election, even if his Democratic opponent opts out and is able to raise much more.

Candidates who accept public funding get $85 million in federal funding to spend but may not raise additional funds. Those who opt out may raise as much as they want, subject to individual contribution limits.

Sen. Barack Obama said last year that if he won the Democratic nomination, he would accept public funding if his Republican opponent did so, too. But since then—and since learning that he can raise tens of millions of dollars in a single month—he has hedged.

Besides, he wastes the money he does raise on really stupid ads about his high school teacher and the "code of honor". :rofl2:

Astute observation, lonestar. A candidate funded by an $96 average contribution, I think, has a huge advantage.http://www.barackobama.com/2008/04/03/more_than_442000_donors_help_o.php

America and the individual are making a return. Gone will be the days of corporations controlling our wallets and our politics. :flipthebird:

Edit: and, not and.

of course he has. just like he will on all his campaign promises. why? because, believe it or not, he is a politician, the same as the rest. he is no different. all he does is spew rhetoric. who knows what he'll actually do in office?

"rethink and decriminalize our nation's marijuana laws"? :rofl2:
like that will happen. congress won't have it, and he'll bend to other pressures to keep it illegal (big tobacco, big pharm)

"withdraw from iraq"
won't happen. garunteed, no matter how many troops he DOES move from iraq, he will leave many there on now established bases. so much for withdrawl from iraq. and you thought john mccain was the only one who's ok with staying in iraq for 100 years.
"we've been in korea for 50 years, japan 60 years." barack obama will not do anything different than this. nobody save one person advocated full withdrawl of all troops from iraq (and the rest of the world). but we won't get into that.

I doubt that. He was taking loans during his primary run.

BTW Romney raised around 50 million and spent around $50 million of his own self made fortune during his campaign.

i think Romney is worth around half billion?

(But Obama and Clinton combined have already spent close to a half billion......):wtf:

In this case it will probably lead to me being correct, and instead of having put all my faith in a miraculous sea change that makes everything everywhere hunky dory, I will put my faith in my ability to change things in a realistic fashion devoid of delusions of grandeur. The result is that I will able to actually get things done instead of fantasizing about the world around me changing while I sit on my ass.
