A Hookah Question (Alcohol Related)

Hey Kids,

I got a strange question for you all out there. We're sitting editing the show and reading Nietzsche while smoking some hookah with just tobacco. As a random idea I threw beer in the hookah instead of water. I haven't had any alcohol tonight. I swear though from smoking the hookah with the beer in it, I feel like I'm starting to get drunk. Am I completely stupid or is there something to this? If this keeps up I think we'll throw some 151 in there and see what that does.

I've tried jack daniels. It works, but it makes the smoke taste like shit. Unless you love the taste of alcohol that much.

But yeah, it works. Pretty sure it's just the heat from the coal vaporizing a little alcohol also.

*EDIT: And alcohol in vapor form (to the best of my knowledge) is a lot more potent than in liquid.

I knew we were on to something here, because literally I feel kind of like a happy drunk mixed with a pot high right now and I'm stoked that I think found a new kind of high... especially since I'm sober thing right now.

I could see Miller Chill being a good hookah filler. I don't like the taste of alcohol in my smoke, and I don't like drinking Miller chill. Unless someone lied to me and told me I was drinking sprite. :jointsmile:

In researching this online apparently there's no hard fast evidence of this but people report and theorize that there is an effect. Apparently putting dry ice in your hookah will make it vaporize and fuck you up. I think I got some experimenting and research to do.

Look up vaporizing alcohol. Some bars have dispenser things to do it. Pretty sure yo ucan even buy a machine for yourself.

You guys are VERY confused, that's not how people vaporise alcohol. Besides, a little warm smoke wont lift alcohol into the air, and then into your lungs.

Ask this in the chem section :lol:

Think of it this way. Say it has never been proven and supposedly doesn't work but for you it gets you high. Then who fucking cares. If it works it works, no need to stop. More power to ya.

:lol: yes because for example 40% alcohol is not made up of just alcohol. (water}

Hence, vapping pure alcohol would be stronger.

I have done this a couple different times with left over alcohol. The first time we used SoCO and I didnt feel anything. The second time we used orange juice and vodka and I did feel like i was a little buzzed. I cant prove or disprove this but I think their may be some evidence for it.

1. Measure the volume of alcohol before you put it into the hookah.

2. Measure the volume of alcohol after you are finished smoking.

The difference in volume will be the amount of liquid that was vaporized.

3. Divide this amount by the number of people smoking.

Now, tell me, did you inhale enough alcohol to feel anything?

I dont see the alcohol vaporizing unless you heat it to 172+ degrees first. Other than that it will stay in liquid form. But if you feel something, maybe the smoke is carrying something else into your lungs other than alcohol. Then it is effecting the way your body absorbs the "tobacco" but I doubt it is liquor doing it.

If you have a good hookah and know what you are doing you will rarely get ashes sucked up into the hose.

I have never had ashes through the hose. If you have a abd one you can buy filters for the tips. Real cheep.

Im pretty sure the happy drunk feeling youre getting is the minor lack of oxy. to the brain from sucking on the hookah?  maybe?:shrug:
