yawning is a sign of entering/emerging from altered states of consciousness.

Yawning respires CO2 and happens when one needs to metabolize at a faster rate. It also releases acid from the blood. If you yawn constantly like on some hallucinogens then it means you're really burning up alot of oxygen and your system is getting a bit acid. Short periods of yogic breathing will stop this. Don't overdo the yogic breathing especially if a Sudarshan kriya type breathing. It can make the blood too alkaline. But that's what happens.

I guess its possible, but our perception and consciousness are both extremely malleable. Eating a banana every morning is enough to alter either.

I think yawning is more or less accompanied with dull states of mind. People tend to yawn before going to sleep or when they feel bored, and yawning is known to temporarily increase mental alertness.

I can feel the pressure change in my brain, when yawning "for real"/"really deep"!

I also yawn a lot when focusing on the slow brain waves .. So I think you are on to something, just do not let it stop there?:thumbup:

Mind though, a cough is a cough, and there are many ways to do it, and many reasons why..

Same with yawning..

Nicely put.

As you describe, most of us are aware there is something intriguing about yawning while tripping. But like tripping, somehow this fits into the "natural world" just as well. Because there really is no clear line between tripping and not, (That is, we're always altering states), ideally it seems like yawning is another one of those rare things that reconciles these separations.

just observe your state of mind before/after you yawn and it will lead your mind to some interesting places.

i realized this after i was trying to reconstruct my ego (so to speak). like, doing simple thought exercises like trying to avoid thinking in words in my head or taking "is" out of sentences and so on and i couldn't concentrate and thought my ego is trying to protect itself, then i started yawning a lot. hell, i even feel a yawn coming on now

this is damn interesting (for me anyway).
