If they did trek down the path fully they would not be posting here and would instead be meditating over their life.

I just finished reading Ram Dass' Be Here Now and although I find his words of wisdom helpful, my daily routine is now filled with guilt.

When I play a video game I feel like I should be meditating. When I eat the pork dinner my mother makes me it taste almost intolerable. When I am enjoying a hot shower I remember the enjoyment will only reinforce my egos desires. I feel guilty sleeping on my new mattress and not on my floor.

Am I not strong enough to pursue the lifestyle of a Yogi? It's just so hard. Even my meditation which has previously been rewarding is filled with this unsettling feeling, like I am impure.

Does anyone trek down the Yogic path? Has your journey been fruitful or equally dismal?

Meditation is your true nature, it is going on now with no effort on your part, while eating be in meditation, while sleeping be in meditation, while playing ps3 be in meditation

Don't forsake your natural joyfull effortlessness by thinking you have to do something to fully be yourself! You are Self, Be That! In all situations BE how hard is that? Does the Self feel guilt about being itself?

True meditation is Unbroken

Haha Wow I didn't realize it was 7/11 day... if I knew It was my will would surely have been broken :P.

Chronic: What exactly do you mean by meditating at all times. This has been an idea I have came across that has given me some confusion. When I meditate I do zazen which is simply breath counts and being aware of my breath, clearing the mind of thought. Occasionally I will include a mantra such as Om or RaMa, or a visualization exercise.

Are you saying one should be aware of their breath at all times? Or is is more of taking the role of the witness that Ram Dass describes? The witness is a part of you that does not identify with your ego, but simply notes everything that you are experiencing. "I have just stubbed my toe, my ego is may get angry."

It wouldn't be much of a life to be meditating all the time. Moderation is better than boring and if you meditate all the time there wouldn't be much of a life to meditate on.

Monks don't meditate all day long as they spend much of their day giving back to the community in many different ways. Posting on a forum such as this one could be a very good way of giving back to the community or even an interesting way to find inspiration. This forum could also be an interesting way to exercise your mind by opening yourself up to new perspectives.

That book was the only thing I found that gave me complete solace during my toughest acid trip.

Eh, yup. Re-directed my whole life - inwardly. The inward then directs the outward.
