Perlite for Casing?

Ok I have heard mixed reports of people using Perlite for humidity when doing casings. Some people say they dont need anything but maybe misting for humidity because the casing makes it high enough. I was just trying to decide whether or not to use perlite or something else and how to use perlite if i wanted to use it. Obviously I would use it just like using it for cakes but would I but the casing on top covering it with holes or what. Thanks for the help.

Don't use the perlite.. It's superfluous and may actually degrade your fruiting environment.

You want to moisten enough perlite with equal amounts of H2O2 and water mixed, then drain, to form a 2 inch layer at the bottom of the growing chamber. Put your casing in its own container ontop of the bed of perlite. bluhoney
