hmmm... I don't think this is any reason to impeach the guy, who cares. Prostituion should be legal anyways, and I doubt its more than a misdemeanor in NY.

I looked at the constitution, but couldn't find any refrence to impeachment procedings requiring any particular act.

Does anyone know what the criteria is? Perhaps they can impeach for any reason?


And did this investigation reveal he had prostitutes during his tenure as Governor? I'm finding trouble getting dates here.


Additionally, is prostitution a federal crime? Why was the FBI investigating anyways?

You should do some research, all of those questions are easily answered.

This was ongoing, the arrests in the case were just made last week.

It won't come to impeachment, he will resign. If not today, tomorrow.

And it's a federal crime for a few reasons...

1) He was using interstate phone lines to arrange prostitutes.
2) They were sending prostitutes across state lines.
3) They were transferring funds to pay for prostitutes across state lines.

Either of those three makes it a federal case. All of them together is a slam dunk.

so this did happen while he was governor?

And are their any requirements for an impeachment/trial in NY? I couldn't find any, nor any discusion of them.

Who thinks he should be removed?

This will have almost no impact on the Democrats national chances.

We would never have lost New York anyway and there is way too much other stuff going on for this to even appear on the the radar of the average person.

It's pretty much a non-story for anyone who isn't slavishly devoted to the nuances of politics.

Yes, it's been happening while he was governor.

There are a few Republicans in New York whose lives Spitzer has been making miserable who want him to step down or face impeachment.

Again, the impeachment talk is bupkis. He will resign.

The thing that seems to be underemphasied is that this all came out as an investigation of him laundering money and misusing government funds, our money, not his.

The thing that bothers me is its being presented like its some personal issue of his but no one is giving much attention to how and why this investigation started and that he may have been spending and billing government funds to finance his sex interests. Yes he's a hippocrite and that bothers me but if he was charging this stuff to tax payer money then he should be hung for this.

Nothing got leaked.

The indictment of the people running the prostitution ring is a public matter, and once it was established that he was "Client #9", the sordid details were available for anyone to read.
